Supercharged SS Vs 1994 Mustang
Just curious as to who everyone thinks will win a race between these two cars on an 1/8th mile dragrace? The driver of the Mustang has some previous track experience and has owned and raced the car since 1995.
The Camaro is a 2010 daily driven manual 6 speed car with the following mods: -Vortech Supercharger -HPTuner Software -Aftermarket Headers -No Cat's -Aftermarket Catback -Aftermarket Cam -Drag Radials The Mustang is a 1994 that isn't a daily driver but probably could be daily driven and weighs 2984 lbs with driver and a half tank of gas on a calibrated car scale at an NHRA track with the following mods: -Aftermarket Transmission -Aftermarket Upper & Lower Intake Manifold -Extrude Honed Upper & Lower Intake Manifold -Aftermarket Aluminium CNC Ported Heads -Aftermarket Cam -Aftermarket Throttle Body -Aftermarket Mass Air Meter -Aftermarket Fuel System -Aftermarket Air Intake Tube -Paxton AFPR -Underdrive Pulley's -Smog Pump Delete -Aftermarket Headers -Aftermarket H-Pipe -Aftermarket Catback -Aftermarket Suspension -SVO Extender -Aftermarket Ignition -Nitrous Oxide -Minor Weight Reduction -Drag Radials -FRPP Aluminium Driveshaft -Aftermarket Pistons -4.10 Gears -Bottom End Upgrades |

that mustang seems track built. It's under 3000 pounds and also has nitrous?
My money's on the stang

Casper, The reason that I'm not concerned with which car looks better is because this is going to be a race and not a car show.I figured that since you're always saying how much of a joke the Mustang is that you would rather race it than the Corvette especially since the Mustang motor has the smaller displacement of the two at only 347 cubic inches and a smaller shot of Nitrous than the Corvette does.
MIT'13, Thank's for your input. The Mustang has been built with an emphasis on racing on the track, but it can be street driven. The Mustang only has a single stage 125HP shot of Nitrous with some weight reduction methods similar to a Cobra R. |

I'm betting on the Mustang...
I don't know what your dyno chart looks like.. But you're running a Centry car in the 1/8th mile in a much heavier car against a pretty decently configured stang that's sub 3,000 lbs. |

1/4 mile I'd be more iffy on w/o more data.. But... 1/8 mi track doesn't give you much time to overcome your weight disadvantage.. If you had a PD blower and an auto w/ stall, I'd be more inclined to say Camaro or close..

The stang should win but I've seen stranger things happen.

Thank's for the input guys.I honestly don't have anything against a Camaro and usually wouldn't concern myself with racing against a daily driven street car like his on the track but this kid has really managed to get on my nerves over the last several months because everytime he see's me in one of my daily drivers at a gas station, grocery store, etc... he's always revving his motor at me and acting like a fool.
I figure that we can race our cars at the track, place a side bet of no less than $500 and let someone in the tower hold the money until after the race.Maybe him losing some money and having the race on video and posted on his favorite forum will wise him up some. I ain't afraid of no ghost |

I didn't see anything in your comments about Camaro hating.. You presented a very logical question, listed factual information and asked for input around here..
You know.. I guess that can be considering hating to some.. The Camaro is 1000lbs heavier than the Mustang and will need some serious offline power and traction to get moving fast enough to over come the Mustang... Especially in only 1/8mi... You botch that launch and you're done. Plus.. The biggest mod of all doesn't have full data in this thread... Driver.... Mustang appears to have the driver mod. I can't say for the Camaro, since nothing was provided. But, this is all speculation and bench racing.. Only way to really tell is bring it to a track. |
