GM Hurst Quick Shifter

What ever happened to the dealer installed Hurst Quick Shifter? Has that been scraped?

I KNOW I CALLED SERVICE DEPT. AT DEALER HE TOLD ME THAT A TECH COULD INSTALL IF I BUY THE SHIFFTER BUT NO GUARANTEE ON LABOR. SO THAT TELLS ME THAT IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG THEY WON'T STAND BY THE TECH

The only available hurst shifter is after market. The one that GM was going to sell got scraped.

Search is your friend, there are several threads discussing this in depth.

I tried the search. I typed in Hurst shifter and got a few threads that had nothing to do with the shifter and one from Oct 09 that said it was delayed to the 1st quarter of '10. I must not be using it correctly.

Im concerned about the "noise" I here some complain about with the after market shifters. SSOCH mentioned in a thread about putting a dynomat under the boot. Will that do the trick?

Ok I have I had my hurst installed for about 2k miles now and I still love it! I did the install myself and did not do anything special to reduce noise or harshness. Now to answer you concerns about the noise issue, yes it sounds different. You hear more noise from the transmission. Also the shift is a much more solid engagement into gear which means that if you miss your shift you will hear about it from both the tranny and the passengers! Now having said that the sound and harshness of the shift really make the care feel more like a muscle car to me. This of course is my opinion and some people completely disagree, i get it. Now something that hasn't been mentioned, you can not imagine how much more fun the shift pattern is with the short throw shifter until you drive one!

As an FYI, the aftermarket HURST can be done with the chrome and white ball, OR the original factory knob and boot....About an hour to install.....

That's good to know. I like the idea of the quick shifter with the stock knob and boot. Any idea why they cancelled the direct GM Hurst Shifter?

Money. Oh and bankruptcy. But they go hand in hand. Have you noticed that almost all of the GM Performance Parts that were originally planned and announced never happened.
