I don't like how that article turned into an America thing at the end...nor do I like them bringing up the key recall stuff. That was proven to only be an issue if you're a knucklehead with 10 lbs of keychains dangling from your key...Yahoo Autos........
Nevertheless...I don't expect this is going to go anywhere. I doubt the push for more protections is new, either. In this new global age, as soon as you put something out there, it's reverse-engineered and no longer a secret or special. And people who believe they can do better...do. Or at least try to...it's not always successful. I can understand where they're coming from (the automakers): Fact is, they do know their cars better, in terms of the intent of design. They are well-versed in all the laws, tests, and regulations that their vehicles must pass. But most buyers really don't give a damn, as long as it works. In our case: as long as it works fast. But inventors, and artists alike are going to need to come to terms with the fact that no matter what laws or regulations are put in place, the world has changed. Nobody can exclusively own anything they've created, anymore. It's an uphill, unwinnable battle... Also....merged with another thread. |
