Question about new 2012 v6's

Somewhere in this forum I read a statement from someone saying to hold off on the 2012 V6 because it has a new engine. It doesn't.. It's a "new integrated exhaust manifold" anyway the argument the person was backing was because it is the first year of production for this new LFX engine there might be some minor or major problems. He said it's always better to get a car once all the 'kinks' are worked out.

So my question is, is he right? Am I better going with a 2011 rather a 2012 for that reason. Everything I read about the 2012 V6 sounds like the integrated exhaust manifold will only help the camaro perform better.
Planning on purchasing a 2012 2Lt in a couple of days but now I am a little doubtful. Any suggestions?

If you like to mod, get a 2010/11 because the 12s wont even be able to get headers as a result of those manifolds.

However the 12s do have new manual trannys so if you want a manual get the 12.

And yet AGAIN you can probably scoop up a new 2010 that never sold for much much less than MSRP for basically the same car.

You should be fine with a 2012, if you're worried about the "new" engine. Honestly, these engines are getting so good that they hardly ever mess up... maybe like 1 in 100,000 (totally made up statistic).

JUST BE SURE TO NOT TUNE YOUR ENGINE, or you will be on your own. There have been a few "my engine blew up" threads, but if you read, it always says that the engine had a tune.

So as long as you don't tune your engine, you will be fine.

For a good read on the new engine, here's a thread http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=147561

I read about not being able to put headers on, thought I read something could be made in future to change that but I'm not sure on that one. Not going to tune it, might mod it in time but it will be my DD. I am kinda set on a 2012, slightly diff interior, rear camera, and sprinkle more hp on top, especially when 2011's are still expensive. As for a 2010, feel bla about getting a new car that has been sitting in a lot or factor for 1+ year.

That is not true. The '12s will have the same tranny as the '10s & '11s.

This has been confirmed by GM employees in the know. There was a sales brochure that had inaccurate info.

Unless you are for some reason dead set on adding headers right away to your car then sure..get a 2011, but no way would I let that make the decision for me. The 2012 has some fresh new features so if you want a 2012..get one!

Don't worry about the engine, it will be fine. Not everything about it is completely new, although it is definitely more than just the same engine with integrated exhaust ports.

Go for it!

The 12s have a new interior as well, for me that would be worth the wait.

Food for thought: GM does extensive testing on all Camaro's before production begins. Could there be some minor problems? Possibily. But the warrenty is in place for that.

Very interesting... I haven't been keeping up on this new v6 stuff, aside from the SAE certified hp for 2011...

So I think if someone really wanted to put this to a good flow test to compare apples to apples would be to compare a 2010/11 head with a stock manifold, a 2010/11 head with a header, and then the 2012 head with the integrated manifold. Hell I guess you wouldn't even need to flow the 2012 head because the article already says the 2012 head flows 10% better than the 2010/2011 head with a stock manifold.

I wonder what kind of flow gains a header gets on a stock 2010/11 head??? I have a flow bench, but no v6 stuff handy... Maybe someone else will test this out? I'm kinda curious now.
