Get the V6 and put an ARK DT-S catback on it and a nice CAI and call it a day. You will love the car. It sounds even better now that it's properly seasoned.

Wow, so this thread is still going?

Sweet!

I'll reiterate what I said before...just drive one.

If you can't bear the thought of your wife having a more powerful Camaro then don't get it.

Else, if you want to make it more fun, do what SixJak said...throw on a CAI and mess with the exhaust and call it a day. Heck I think half the reason people buy the SS over the V6 is for the sound anyways.

GMguy, here is another DTsS + LT header V6 for you:

I can't wait to see the responses to this statement.

My RS sounds beastly with the MRT V2 axle-back. I was pleasantly surprised.

Indeed the MRT's do sound great. To make them sound even better ( I know hard to do) I have now added the OBX Headers and Magnaflow Resonated X pipe. Just got back from a drive and WOW, Sounds GREAT and the added power can really be felt.

Not everyone likes the sound of a V6, myself included.

In no way does any stock V6 with a muffler sound beastly.

Two things,

1. Purchase what you can afford.

2. What power level are you looking for?

A. SS
B. LS (includes LT1, LT2 ect)

Thats it! No one buys a Camaro thinking about Gas Milage. No one buys a Camaro for insurance. People buy Camaros because it is a sexy machine.

I will say this about the V6. If you buy it get used to the V8 comments (Camaro 5 mostly). So if you are shallow and need your purchases validated by others then DO NOT purchase a V6 . Out of the 25 to 30 people who have commented on my Camaro only two were asking about the V8. And out of those two, one man was homeless and the other did not own trasportation.

At our last camaro meet a fellow member was complimenting me on my exhaust, said they really loved the sound. I told them it was the ark n-2 and they make a version for the v8...I guess after following me for 20 miles they heard something they liked but didn't know it was just a v6. That's not the first time people heard my car and thought it was a v8. Most people would need to hear them side by side to really understand the difference in tone. You can easily achieve a pleasantly audible tone in the v6, I assure you.

I'm sure you won't admit it but folks shouldn't kid themselves about buying any model of Camaro because it is "practical".

I could have got the SS, bu the V6 just felt better on the road for me. Like I said before I drove both the V6 and V8 Mustang and the V6 annd V8 Camaro. I liked the feel of the V8 Mustang than the V8 Camaro but also liked the V6 Camaro better better than the V6 Mustang even though the V6 Mustang is faster. I didnt go with the V8 Mustang because I liked the Camaro styling better and also knew I could tweak my V6 camaro to get it close to the performance I wanted. So I now run consistent 13.9s on low test gas without headers or a tune. One of my old cars I opted for 383, could have gotten a 440 or Hemi...but the 383 was all I needed or wanted. My next car may be a V8, which will probably be the next Camaro or Mustang body style. But maybe not...depends on how they look at what they will offer. Until then I am ppretty happy with my current performance. But I also must say in total stock form before my bolt ons I wasnt totally happy therefore I set it up to my liking.

Not because of engine power. Add traction control and some sticky tires on that 66 hemi and the V6 and stock SS would be wasted in the 1/4mile. Though our V6 will beat it in the top end because of more and better spaced gearing.
