Flowmaster Mufflers

i went to an exhaust shop and put my car on the lift and they seemed to take a while to find something to fit my car (2ss/rs manual).... they finally decided that i believe what he said was 40 series flowmaster either rockets or bullets depending on wihch ones fit the best.....anybody know anything about these? how they sound? perform? and should i be worried it took them so long to find something?

That was my first choice when I decided to change mufflers, but I was not happy with the sound so I changed to the full cat-back system. Much better.

The area where the mufflers are is a bit of an odd shape because of how the exhaust exits through the rear valence, this thread http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21289 has lots of examples.

The bullet style mufflers are supposed to be the best bang for your buck, good deep sound and probably the maximum power gain (don't expect too much from mufflers alone). I've always been a fan of the Delta Force line of Flowmaster, I have single chamber Delta Flow 10's on the El Camino... they are loud but sound great IMO.

Just remembered Flowmaster Outlaws are a bullet style but the smallest diameter they come in is 3"

I had them on my mustang. They had a nice tone but were not very loud. Also I believe they are aluminum which is higher pitched than stainless steel. Im gonna go with stainless steel this time to get a deeper tone.

I have the Flowmaster Super40 on my Avalanche. Sounds good but to much drone inside the cab on long trips for me. Dont know what they sound like on the Camaro though.

I get tons of drone with the 10's too but it's also almost a 30 year old car without sound deadening material. they are right under the cab as well with about a foot of pipe from the headers and another foot then dumps right before the rearend

Check the clip in my sig if you want to hear the Super-44s from Flowmaster. Great fit too. Can't even see them tucked under there. Also check out the write up on their website. I love them!
