&$*@# Hill assist!
GM, you seriously need to give owners the ability to shut off this INCREDIBLY ANNOYING feature.

I really just don't know why some of you have so much trouble with this. Mine works great. Maybe it's malfunctioning?

Same here! Mine is working just fine. I have noticed that when it does come on you just have to slowly let the clutch out so that you are not chirping the tires or anything worse.

I have an 2011 LS3 and that's what I learned how to drive stick on. I don't see the point of hill assist. Even on the steepest hills you only roll back a tiny bit. Just needs a month of experience in driving a manual to get to know the clutch.

Idk about your driving skill but I've noticed anybody that is great with a clutch and knows how to drive a stick hate it completely and alot of the people new to the manual transmission love it or don't notice it.

I had to "reset" mine. I read about the following procedure somewhere on here and decided to try it. As far as I can tell it helped, but hill assist is still sometimes very annoying. Maybe this winter I'll replace the module to get rid of it completely. But at any rate, here's the procedure I followed to "reset" the torque sensor to make the HSA function better.
1. Find an empty parking lot with an incline steep enough to cause the HSA to engage (doesn't take much). 2. Come to a stop facing uphill. 3. Depress the clutch. 4. Put it in 1st gear. 5. Remove your foot from the brake and "blip" the throttle to at least 4k RPM while the HSA is holding you. (You have to be quick.) This is supposed to reset a torque sensor somewhere (from what I read on here). All I can say is, before I did this, my hill start assist WOULD NOT release before 2sec had passed. After doing this, it releases as the clutch starts to grab, but it still seems a little grabbier than it should be. Just my 2 cents.

I would be new to a stick. So maybe I've just learned how to deal with it right from the get go

Thanks for the reference to the other thread. The late time I had searched on this, no one had identified a solution.

Never experienced this. Glad my 2010 doesn't have it, though. The skip-shift was bad enough. Got rid of that, though.
