I'm guessing .97 for the SS....but I think the V6 will be very close to the G8 GT (since they share the same suspension...with a few tweaks in the V6's favor)
64.3 mph slalom and 0.85g skidpad, according to Road & Track.

If the V6 is .85 like the G8 GT, I thinks it's a huge stretch to expect the SS to pull .12g more on the skidpad.

In all honesty, I would also like to see the SS dip into the 12's, I just don't think it is going to happen in stock trim on the stock tires. 3860/3913 is a lot of weight to get moving from a dead stop (trust me, I know). Yes, on a perfect day, with a perfect driver, with some sticky tires and a great 60ft time, I'm sure it will happen, but please, let's not hold that up as the norm if it does.

As for the skidpad numbers, I think some of you that are looking for .94g's or better are going to be disappointed. It's going to be very hard to build a mass-produced car and get those kind of numbers. Remember, production cars have to please a large cross-section of buyers so they by nature have to sacrifice in some performance for the sake of ride quality, smoothness, etc. Does the Camaro chassis have the ability to put .97+g's sure, but not on the suspension this car will be delivered with. Again, I hope I am wrong.

For those of us here who predict it will pull a .88

...... what do you think this is?? a mustang???

besides we've already heard the Camaro pulled a .96-.97

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

OH YEA!! I think that, the day they test it there will be a slight head wind, causing the 0-60 time to be 4.5539!

Lateral g's on the G8 GXP are at .90 average sourced from below

http://www.zimbio.com/Pontiac+G8/art...Pontiac+G8+GXP

I'd expect a little more from the camaro if nothing more just due to a few less lbs. .92 - .95 is likely I figure. That's not bad at all.

Then the V6 should pull better.

The .97 number was an unofficial result reported during prototype testing. So that wasn't pulled out of thin air...if that's what you're thinking. It's definitely achievable. The SS rides on an FE3 setup, same as the G8 GXP. While the V6 rides on FE2, the same as the G8 GT.

So if the SS pulls that much better than the GXP, I expect the V6 to do the same relative to the GT. Remember Camaro is considered Zeta II, where the G8 is Zeta "I" due to minor upgrades fwiw...

EDIT: The tires make a big difference, too...but I don't have the patience or time right now to look too deeply into that.

SS Automatic
0-60: 4.7 seconds
1/4 mile: 13.51@100

SS Manual
0-60: 4.8 seconds
1/4 mile: 13.35@104

Of course, this will depend on the weight of the driver plus any testing equipment they have on-board at the time of the test. I'm assuming 180lbs over the curb weight in the figures above.

Whilst I agree on the 0-60... I think the 1/4 is way off. My Magnum could beat the that figure! I think it should be in the 12's! EASY!

I'm Guessing

0-60 4.4 sec
1/4 mile 12.8 @ about 112-114mph (assuming we shift to 4th gear a little before the 1/4mile mark. 3rd gear should top out at about 110mph)

.97gs cornering grip

60-0 104ft-110ft

For the V6 I'm guessing Gm is under promising and over delievering.

0-60 5.5sec.

1/4 mile 13.9!!! @102mph

Those unofficial .97 g's may be from FE4 testing. It'll take a pretty aggressive suspension to get it up there.

Pedders is right up there with their G8, and with recent add-ons are expecting to hit 1.

When the mags start chiming in, their numbers are gonna be all over the scale, just like this thread

keep looking for g8 gxp reviews to get an estimate as to what the camaro will do.....and expect it to be better...since it is 400lbs lighter.

I want this car to HANDLE!!! If it doesn't, and I can't make it to, somebody may be getting a real good deal on it.

Truth has been spoken here. What we never know in the magazine stories are how much the driver weighed, what kind of 60ft time did they have on the 1/4 mile times, etc. All this is crucial to what the final number might look like. In the end, the only numbers that really matter are those that you, as the owner, are able to get out of the car.

My car, in present form, is capable of running in the mid-to-low 10's in the 1/4, but that has not happened yet with me driving. It a PEBSWADS error.
