Walmart Oil change

So I noticed the other day that my local Walmart has Full Synthetic Castrol oil changes for $44.95

Would you trust Walmart to change your oil?

Discuss.....

I've used them before with no problems. I use another shop now because they raised their prices. They used to be the cheapest option.

I saw that too, but didn't read the fine print. I bet it only covers 5 quarts and Mobil 1 is over $6.00 a quart at Wal-Mart. $62.95 is probably more like the actual price. That being said, I would not trust them. My local shop told me that if I brought my own oil that they would charge 29.95 for labor and do most of the items on Chevrolet's schedule one. That's what I'm going to do.

idk, that seems pretty cheap. I buy a lot of things from WM but I'm not sure i'd have them change the oil in my Camaro.

I wouldn't trust Walmart to sell me a piece of gum, let alone oil change...

I would trust them until I have a reason not to. However I was always taught by my father to never switch oil types (old-school way of thinking?) so since Mobile 1 was used since the factory, Mobile 1 is what I will use until I rebuild/switch/etc. the engine.

edit: I should say that I prefer to change the oil myself any day. However, should some reason prevent me from doing that I have no problem taking it somewhere that I trust.

I used Walmart on my 2001 SS oil changes without issue.
I just had my 3rd oil change done by my local Chevrolet dealer Peltier Chevrolet. (at 9K miles). I request Mobil 1 5W30 each time. All three times they have messed up. First time they put 6 quarts in it and argued with me that it took 8. Second time they put their standard bulk oil in it 10W30, non synthetic. This last time I reminded them again. They put 6 quarts in it (charged me for 8) and my receipt doesn't say they used Mobil 1 5W30. I have since went and bought 2 more quarts to put in. Now it's full. I am anal about the maintenance on my vehicles and always have the manufacturers dealer only touch my cars/truck. This local dealer hasn't a clue!

Never Never Never allow Wal-mart to touch my cars. I worked in a reputable shop for years and we used to get cars towed in because of the oil change mistakes done by Wal-mart.
