Thanks --- once again -- for your loyalty!

I get many letters and emails about GM Service -- and of course, I see lots of posts on various internet sites about GM Service at our dealerships.

While it’s true that we can always improve, and that a number of dealers miss the mark at times, the truth is that our dealers are better than the competition. This fact gets validated time-after-time in independent surveys.

For example, J.D. Power and Associates recently released their 2008 Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) results. The study measures satisfaction among vehicle owners who visit dealers for maintenance or repair work during the first three years of ownership. The survey includes responses from more than 82,000 owners of 2005-2007 model year vehicles in 17 countries around the globe, including the U.S.

This year, all GM brands outperformed the industry average.

Jaguar topped the list for the second year in a row with a score of 923

Cadillac came in second, one point behind Jaguar

Buick ranked third

Lexus and Lincoln rounded out the top five

Saturn squeezed into the top 10, tying Honda for 10th place

Chevy, GMC and Saab dealers just missed the top 10 by one point.

Pontiac and HUMMER dealers were right behind them.

(please note that Chevy/GMC/Saab/Pontiac were substantially ahead of makes such as Toyota/Mercedes Benz/Audi/Land Rover/Nissan/and Toyota's Scion!)

IN FACT: Toyota ranked below all GM brands and the industry average, also below Hyundai and Ford.....

(!!!!)

In fact, this is the second straight year all GM dealers were above average in this index.

Our dealer partners are fully aware of the challenges we face in the industry and though we cannot control fuel prices, housing or the credit markets, GM and its dealers are working hard to change customer perceptions about our products through excellent service and customer satisfaction.

You can be assured we're not sitting back on our laurels -- we will not be satisfied until all of our customers are enthusiastic about buying and owning GM products.

The results:

Jaguar 923
Cadillac 922
Buick 919
Lexus 915
Lincoln 913
Mercury 908
Acura 904
Infinity 903
BMW 901
Honda 897 (tie)
Saturn 897(tie)
Chevrolet 896 (tie)
GMC 896 (tie)
Saab 896 (tie)
Pontiac 895
HUMMER 892
Mini 890
Volvo 888
Audi 887
Mercedes 884
Chrysler 882

INDUSTRY AVERAGE 882

Hyundai 880
Mitsubishi 880
Subaru 878
Ford 875
Porsche 873
Toyota 871
Land Rover 863
Dodge 858 (tie)
Jeep 858 (tie)
Nissan 857
Mazda 851
Suzuki 846
Scion 845
Kia 844

well, maybe the thing is that with a toyota/nissan/whatever you don't have to visit your dealership 5 times a year and therefore you can't become "friends" with the folks who work there?

j/k!
