Score one more for Chevy/GM
Here's my personal thread for the month.
Remember that friend I was talking about who was looking into a Hyundai Accent for a cheap car to get him through college, etc? Maybe...maybe not. Well, he thought like too many do, that just because it's Japanese, it's an astounding vehicle; surely one to put all other vehicles to shame. And likewise, he thought that ALL Chevy's (amongst the other brands, and besides the 'Vette) were crap cars built by that filthy American company General Motors.... Anyways, I hoaxed him into a Cobalt, instead! And apparently I did SUCH a good job, he didn't even test drive the car before he bought it. (GM, are you guys looking for a PR guy? ) He recieved it today, and I'm waiting on an initial impression from him, but if it's anything like mine was, there should be lots of exclamation marks. |

Good thing he didn't buy the Hyundai because it's South Korean not Japanese I wouldn't say Korea has a good rep with cars (Hyundai, Kia, Daewoo) 3 brands I would never buy. I think he'll be much happier with his Cobalt.

This means that you're a great salesman, but it bodes ill for the end result of the whole thing. Buying a car you've never driven is a recipe for disaster, when you find out that the armrest is in the wrong place, or the transmission doesn't feel the way you like, or whatever...
Still, I understand those Cobalts are damn fine cars, so it will probably deliver what you promised anyway. As for Koren cars...Hyundai has really stepped up, just like GM has. They may not quite be up to the level that GM is but they're pretty close, and far better than GM was 20 years ago.

I was actually talked to an owner of a Matrix, I'm a Vibe owner, and we were both delivering food/cake to a wedding party. I made the mistake of ingaging her:
Me: "I like your Matrix." Lady: "Thank you, I love it." Me: "You know your car and mine are the same car." Takes a quick look at my Vibe and decides that it is indeed not a Matrix... Lady: "Except mine was built better." Me: "They were actually built in the same factory the first year of production." Lady: "No. Mine was built in Japan, because I only buy 100% Japanese." She goes on saying how American is crap and something about being born in Michigan... I decided to end the conversation there, believing my job is more important then enlightening the stupid. *sigh* *I hate Cobalts* http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...VibeCrash1.jpg

Blind allegiance to one brand or region is bad, thats what I tell everyone. I like GM because they meet my wants, needs, and tastes better than any other. Now, while it is surprising that a hater took a cobalt without a test drive it is good to hear that another person may have been converted, unless he ends up with a lemon then hes gone for good. But anything that I've heard is that cobalts do their job well and thats good enough for me.

Yup. It's not like you'd enlighten anyone anyway. That sort of thing doesn't happen. It's kinda like arguing on the internet...

With the Cobalt, sure the interior isn't as refined as the competition, but for overall cost of ownership (insurance, maintenance, gas, depreciation, etc) its darn hard to beat. |
