ZL1 Boost plus Nitrous Question

Hello, I have a 2013 ZL1 with Headers, CAI, and Nitrous outlet LSA/ZL1 Plate system installed. I am getting ready to remove the super charger to replace isolator/coupler and I need some advice. I am wanting to replace the lower crank pulley and I would like to get as much power as possible. I would like to do the 28% lower pulley and idler relocation bracket and upgrade the injectors to ID850. My worries is can I run this combo and still be safe on the bottom end of the vehicle. My nitrous system is set with the 100 HP jets installed currently. Please advise.. I know once I get done the vehicle will have to be custom tuned again which I plan on getting done once vehicle is back together. I am also running Iridium Denso IT24 plugs right now as well... I really want to hear all advice and suggestions

We would recommend some other mods to go with it to keep the boost levels safe. We see you already have headers but you might want to consider a cam upgrade. Other mods to keep the intake temps down such as a bigger heat exchanger or a intercooler pump upgrade would help out too. You will also want to upgrade your fuel pump too if you haven't already.

I don't agree with the fuel pump- Factory ZL1 pump should be sufficient from what I've seen.

The 28% is the 10" pulley correct? If so I would run the 10.5" stock upper
Change out your plugs to NGK7s
Dedicated fuel cell, I wouldn't trust pulling from the rail anymore after the pulley swap

Were you running it with nitrous before the tear down? What did your WOT AFR look like at, say 5500 RPM? The 28% is overdriven, correct? How much boost will that add? I know you will gain some head room with the increase in injector size, but I'm not sure it will be enough to support the increase in boost plus the 100HP shot of nitrous. I'd hate to see you run lean at the top of the RPM scale under boost w/nitrous.....catastrophic.

If you don't increase your fuel you're going to blow your motor...But it seems you already have it figured out and really don't need our info, so go ahead with your plan...I doubt that you would get a reputable tuner to put it on their dyno without having to sign a waiver...

Lol.

OP, you can only add so much boost before wasting it and you'll need a cam with a 10". Also your temps with a 10" is going to be WAY out of the stratosphere with no additional cooling measures such as Meth, E85, or a HX upgrade. No the nitrous is not enough to cover it.

If you want to do a 10":

Cam
Boost-a-pump for fuel
ID850s or 1050s
Heat Exchanger

And you probably should add a flex fuel sensor and put it on E85 or a 50/50 E85/93 mix.

If you want to stay away from a cam, then do a 9.1" lower pulley (18%), which is pretty much the max you can run without crazy IATs and without needing a cam.

ID850s are fine for that on 93 and you probably won't need a BAP at 18%. Nitrous should cool you enough too.

Don't take our word for it though, call some shops and go with your plan.

Don't claim to know everything....

I by no means am trying to dispute anyone's advice. I looked at my original post and yes you are correct with a 28% pulley I would need to do something different. I think I am going to stick to a 18% pulley- id-850 injectors and the 100 hp shot of nitrous. I will be adding a voltage booster for the fuel pump but I think I should be pretty happy there. I don't know are we ever happy... lol

With a 18% pulley you don't need injectors or a BAP...Are you doing these mods yourself or are you conferring with a incompetent source???I'm not trying to bash you and none of the other members are either but your info source is not credible...I've been running a 2.55 upper pulley for over a year with stock injectors and no fueling upgrade and the car runs like a scalded dog...Absolutely no problems off or in boost!!!

Future Mods to the car.

At this time I am going to go with the 10' crank pulley and ATI balancer. I will do the idler relocation bracket and new belt. I am doing the ID850 injectors and will be doing the BAP module. 174 deg thermostat and Roto-Fab Carbon cold air Intake. I want to do a Cam but I have not decided which one I am going to go with yet. advice would be welcome. With that being said that Brings me back to the Nitrous Issue I think I will mainly keep it on the car for Purging and show purposes only but didn't know If I would still be able to run a 50-100 shot or If I would be out of fuel at that time. Don't know how much overhead. Ted Jannetty thought I might still be able to do a 50-75 shot but wasn't sure.
Thanks to all for any advice on cam- Thinking of Jannetty rough idle cam?
