I think it would be a mistake to make the Z28 an LS3 car. It would be more of a trim package for the SS instead of living up to its history.

I really want the LE2 or Z28 (if there is one) to have more HP. I'll wait until the 6th gen if I have to.
Also, LMAO at people who think an auto can't track well. To each their own, if you don't want an A6 fine but don't trash it just because it is cool to trash it. This isn't 1999 anymore, the autos in these cars are a a little better than that old 4L60. I understand you racing diehards prefer an M6, my only complaint is trashing the A6 for no reason. FYI- An A6 driven better than most in this post can drive (certainly better than me):

I don't think anyone trashed it, it's just the driving experience we're discussing. Being part of the car so to speak...that is what a real Z28 is to me.

Fact is, a friend of mine from Switzerland bought a showroom-fresh '99 Camaro SS with an Automatic and finished inside the Top 20 in the '99 One Lap of America...
'Course, he used a 6-speed manual in '10 with his spankin' new SS to duplicate the feat, after the One Lap bar had been mightily raised in the intervening 11 years... Personal preference does NOT preclude personal choices... |

Earlier this year I was thinking we'll have to wait till the Gen6. But if the Gen5 is going through the 2015 MY, there's a long time between the 1LE and then.
I think once the new V8 is released for the C7 Corvette, we'll see this engine in a new Z-28. So the new Z-28 will essentially be a 1LE with the new motor. There's still enough of a price gap between a 1LE and ZL1 to support it.
