Headers, not a big deal and easy to install. Cam and valvetrain, now you have someone that has some liability after entering the engine. Dyno time with a tune, always seems expensive unless you know the time involved and the cost to pay for that dyno. $2100 might be on the high side, but you get what you pay for. |

Its funny to hear people say its too much for this and that but dont work on there own cars...
People have to eat guys and make a living, How would u feel if someone came into your job and said oh thats too much.. We also have over 25 years under our belts with FUEL INJECTION, SUPECHARGING AND TURBO CHARGING..We tune and build some very fast cars at our shop, not to mention all the muscle cars we work on and like a few have said, u get what u paid for at our shop...EXCELLENT PERFECT WORK WITH PROVEN PART SUGGESTIONS AND SETUPS THAT MAKE GOOD USEABLE POWER But we also have shop keepers ins, rent, elec, gas, supplies,etc... Its easy to say oh thats too much when u dont work on them... Honestly to install LT headers, cam, springs, pushrods, have custom tune w/dyno I would say u would be looking at 2000 to 2200 + parts.. We charge 98HR

Thats a reasonable cost, at a professional shop. Figure $500 for the dyno tune, which leaves $1600 in labor for the job. It's an eight hour job for two mechanics that have done it before to do it correctly. $100/hour labor is reasonable at a professional shop. At a backyard/buddies garage you'd still expect to pay $5-600 plus the dyno tune (another $500 or 600) so I don't think its unreasonable.

that is 30% higher rate per hour. My shop charges me 95/hour for parts I bring and 85/hour for parts I buy from them.
