The catch can helps prevent unwanted oil getting into your intake manifold. From the Install Directions link below you can download in pdf format. Pretty easy to install though.

Um. My car is about 15 months old and I've put 40,000 miles on it. So I'd say no...
I bought mine to drive it. I have a long commute and it's an awesome DD. It makes me enjoy my drive, and I drive my car constantly even when I'm not going to work. Enjoy your car! That's the great thing about cars... when you wear one out, you can always go get another. And if you take care of your Camaro, it should last you a long time. No, you should have one for the V6 as well. It'll catch plenty of oil.
