are you guys putting any paint or anything to prevent corrosion from the metal being exposed after drilling?

I did. I sprayed ( or squeezed, I forget) some touch up paint onto a q tip and rolled the q tip around the exposed metal edges. Let dry a while and repeat.

I did not paint it... I thought about it... but its under the bumper cover, under the little cap and behind washers. I don't think much water will get in there if any. Wouldn't hurt to paint it. I did not want to tape everything off and did not have an thing I could brush on.

I encountered a problem with front-to-back alignment of the receiver in the channel of the crashbar, to the holes drilled into the crashbar. The receiver was too tall for the channel in the crashbar, and with just hand placement of the receiver, the front of the receiver was about an inch behind the holes drilled in the crashbar.

I talked to Matt at ZL1addons about it. They had run into the problem on occasion with installations at their shop. They recommended aligning the receiver to the holes by hand, then thread a 5/8-11 bolt (2" length bolt was enough for mine) on a flat washer from the front, through the holes, into the receiver. Then draw up the receiver with a ratchet wrench on the bolt, until the receiver is well-seated against the crashbar. The metal of the crashbar is pliant enough that the receiver will align itself with crashbar without creasing the crashbar metal.

Apparently the manufactured height of the channel in the crashbar varies from one Z28 to another enough that a single dimension receiver will have to be forced into some crashbars.
