sell or not? need your opinions
Hi there, I'm stuck with a dilemma that I need help with from my fellow C5'ers
Situation: Car: 1LT Date recieved: 2009, Oct 20. K/ms: 2000 With my current job, I travel around Canada and thus I haven't been able to drive my car much. Our company is outsourcing to the Philippines and I will be leaving in August to Jan. At this time the car will see storage again, for 6 months and then an additional 2-4 months because of winter. That's around a total of approximately 10 months just sitting there in storage. Now I'm not a car specialist or anything, I don't know the repercussions of leaving the car in storage for that long and what sort of problems can happen after it. My other option: try and sell the car and order 2SS when I come back in Jan 2011. I love my car but I don't know if its safe to leave a car for that long in storage. Any opinions/suggestion would help. Thanks.

The car will be fin in storage my 2001 Z28 has been sitting since October (I have a battery tender & a fuel aditive in the tank) the car started right up this past weekend no issues. I have done the same with the 69 Z/28 for 10 months. The question is really up to you do you want to sell the car and get a 2011 2SS next year or just keep the 1LT.

In my opinion; If you want to upgrade to an SS then do it. If you are happy with your car, then keep it. A properly stored car should be fine when taken out of mothballs. I store my Harley for three to four months every year with no problems. (Winter, you know.)

Sell it now, get the 2SS later. Are you going to get a sizeable per diem for going to the Phillipines? It'll make it that much easier to buy the SS...

From reading your other posst cloud i can tell you really want a SS so i think thats pushing you from selling it as well. Nothing wrong with that lots of people here have upgraded now there is more inventory and options to be had now. The good getting a SS in the states is a great option. The bad your a Canadian with brutal tax's your going to take a a large hit of close to 10k with depreciation, tax's freight costs etc. My opinion i would store it wait till next year there will be even better deals to be had in 2011.
