GM protection plan/platinum shield opinions? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

What are the forum members opinions on gm extra's the platinum shield protection and protection plan. Are any of these extra's worth it the dealer offered me them at gm employee cost at $1700 for both for my slightly used acadia but i passed. I went with my gut feeling on this not research and thought it was another way they could squeeze more money out of me. When i put the order in for my camaro i will have to think about this again. Thoughts opinions please would be great.

what are the exacts on it what does it give you. There is a such thing as to much insurance. I mean they are alraedy giving you three year bumper to bumper and 5 year power train. Whos says you will still have the thing. One thing to think about is you have to have to look at the base warranty and and the extra warrantly. A lot of times on these things there is double coverage. Also bounce the warranties off of your car insurance, it wouldnt be uncommon then to be triple coverd. I like warranties but these ones that you pay extra for I dont go for. Its like the Best Buy warranty, they give you two years or something, of which the first year is covered by the manufacture anyways and thays who they send it to the first year, and they dont even touch it. Although I think they did geti into trouble as of late with this and maybe have changed their warranties. Bottom line is warranties and insurance is a form of gamblin, and they wouldnt sell it unless they were making money.
