I think as other high performance/super cars go to AWD, it will be a natural progression for the Corvette. For not it seems to be speculation.

I don't think any traditionally RWD performance car has moved to AWD recently. If so, not many. AWD will add a good deal of weight and put more of that weight forward. Plus it'll add cost. A RMR, AWD Vette might make for a great performance car, but will it really be a Vette? And it won't be much of a bargain at 70k for a base version.

The Porche something, went AWD...and during the TopGear Review, the RWD actually came out better...if I remember right.

I'm not saying it is any better than RWD, I'm just saying I can see it being a natural progression. If it were to have AWD, according to who would it not be a Vette? Again, it's all speculation

True, and Porsche makes some great cars. They've had their AWD versions for decades, so it's not too recent IMO. But there are some inside GM would want an AWD Vette.

Whoever says the corevette is not refined and is a brute must not have gotten into a viper! Now that's a brute and an uncomfortable one at that!

The seats in the Viper are very comfortable. But it's focus isn't street comfort, it's track performance. I personally care far more for performance than comfort. Both great cars.

what I love most about the corvette is the first the long history of the car, and how its always been beautiful, and able to compete with or obliterate the competion, not just in america but exotics (i.e. in LeMans) just read this thread for some history
http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1365 (trying to keep it short). the fact that it had the engine under the hood, with that good ol' pushrod engine, V8 with 400, or 505 horses, and still has great gas milage compared to lambos and ferrari's in its class. and manages to still be a dream car you can possibly afford. change any of that and you take away from what had been and should continue to be a Corvette |

...what if you just took out the pushrod engine aspect? and as a result added more great gas mileage that people can still easily afford?

Retro Vette
Honestly, I'm kind of tired to see the Vette looking more and more Asian with each generation. Don't get me wrong - i LOVE the Vette. It's one of Americas best sportscars to date and packs some serious performance.
It's just that the older Vettes had much more unique character and charme to them, while the latest generation just remind me of a mix between the new Viper and a Mitsubishi 3000 GT. If a retro-designed Vette, like on the attached picture, is ever going to make it into production, i'm seriously considering to get one. But for the time being, i'll stick with my plans to get the new Maro and i'm more than happy with that. |

You know, I don't particularly like the a$$ on that...but I'm sooooo diggin' the front-end!
And...The Vette came first, if anything, the Viper looks like the Vette... |

I love everything about that rendering!!! That is AWESOME! It's got the Stingray front end w/ the lower facia in a kind of lambo style. It's got the C5/6 midsection and rear end w/ the rear hatch similar to that of the retro as well. That is an awesome rendering. I love the looks!!!
