A6 owners FYI

I don't know how many of you'all check the market place threads but anyone with a '10 or '11 A6 should take a look here: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=221333. I had the Hurst paddles until a couple of weeks ago but the heat distortion in ABQ ran me out of adjustment (adjuster screws threaded out the back). These though are what I would have expected from Hurst in the first place.

So you mean your plastic/delrin pieces warped?

Wouldn't surprise me....we quit selling that style and stuck directly to the Aluminum ones after having some breakage issues.

You making the meeting tonight?? Don't think that I've met ya yet....

No, the adjustment screws that go through the metal frame that keep a gap between the paddle and the TapShift button ran out of adjustment without any warpage of the Hurst unit. Hurst says it's due to the steering wheel expanding & contracting with temperature but in my case there was no longer any gap (bad because it shifted me into M on it's own) and one of the adjuster screws threaded out the back of the frame (still no gap). I double checked the installation and still had the same result. In any case the new ones in the market place just replace the OEM button in the housing and don't have the clearance issues the Hurst paddles all have. I just thought people might like to see an alternative.

Can't make the meeting tonght. Maybe the next...

Hmm these look a little suspect. Looks like they fit right over the button so you won't get that rocking/lever motion you get with the hurst. Missing a shift at the wrong time could do me some real harm.

There's a couple of videos in that thread that show it being installed as well as in operation. Take a minute to watch them before just dismissing them out of hand.

I don't dig that paddle shifting buisness....

I just put my A6 in drive, and floor the peddle, and Chantilly gets way gone!

Same here! Paddle shifting takes too much effort...

I just let off the gas a bit, push the clutch in, swap gears and reverse the procedure...

Sometimes I double clutch but that's a different story that most of y'all might not be ready for.....except Andre since he knows a little about 10spds and the likes.

Word up Friday Lovers!
