Disable Auto Headlights

My car has auto HID headlights that come on way too soon before it gets dark. Then they turn back off then on then off, they do this every time until its completely dark. Is there a easy way to completely disable them? You can't just turn the lights off because that turns off the daylight running lights along with it.

The only way that I know of, is if you take the plug out of the sensor (bubble on the dash in the defrost vents) and put a resistor in it. And that sensor is kind of a pain to get to if I remember correctly. It was one of the last steps to take out before taking the dash apart to do the HUD install.

There isn't a state in the union that requires DRLs.
Canada requires DRLs, as do some countries in Europe.

In Virginia, DRLs are not required, but if the vehicle is equipped with them from the factory, they must be operational to pass VA state inspection. Just FYI.

You can disable the auto lamps by turning the headlamp switch to the left. It does reset whenever you turn the ignition off and restart the car, however...

and messing with the sensor on the dash, could end up messing up the alarm system as well as that is part of it.....it may be only the blinking light that tells you its enables, but its still part of the system.

The problem if I turn off the lights the DRL go off too. I don't understand why the light sensor circuit is so touchy. I had automatic headlights on my 4th gen Camaro and they worked great. How do I remove the sensor from the dash? Anyone know? I have dark tinted side windows so maybe that's hurting its performance.
