There is nothing wrong with GM making the current Z an Auto, they misrepresented the SS and made it the lower model which is totally wrong so why not allow a Auto in the Z..

I would buy a Z/28 auto, add a verter, program the trans and lay waste to the stick guys ;o)
to the bold a double

to the last part. just because you lack the natrual ability to drive a car and would rather ride in one. lmao.

Or maybe I have a left leg thats was crushed by some asshat driving his car into my GSXR1100 while I was at a light minding my own business...I almost lost the leg and my life..

Lastly bring your 69 Z/28 to gunfight vs a 69 L78 Camaro SS
All you'll see it the poor little 302 get SPANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNKED....

I agree.

had no idea it was 50%, pretty high.

I just hope the z28 isn't ~$55k like some people said.

If it shows up...it probably won't be cheap.

Just like we did with the SS before it was out...look at comparable GM offerings, and look at the competition...that'll give a decent guage of what to expect. I think most people guessed the SS was going to start around 28k...

personally I think you took it too personally. I was joking. too each his own when it comes to transmission preference.

as for your story sorry to hear.

and which type of race are we refering to? 1320 or road course? because 1320 is like going to a strip club all tease no pay off. IMO.

I don't know about "SPANKED", and I think it would depend on the driver. Car Life L78 test from 1969, L78 396cid 375hp - 14.77et, 98.72mph, Car Life Z/28 test from 1969, Z/28 302cid 290hp - 14.85et, 101.4mph. I wouldn't exactly call that "spanked"!!

Automatic, all the way. The tap shifter works awesome if I want to go through the gears. I work in construction and kicking around a clutch pedal is the last thing I want to do at the end of the work day. I like 1 pedal for each foot.

As a result, what could have been a high-priced sale, grossing more revenue than a lower trim, disappears. I would either be compelled to buy a competing brand and model or a lower trim of the same model, spending the difference in the aftermarket to make my cheaper car faster. GM would lose out on that money. I'm sure that I'm not alone.

There are a lot of people that, for a variety of reasons, would like cars other than manuals. It is for this reason that GM offers automatic transmissions, sometimes standard, in so many cars. If GM's market research suggests that an automatic might turn a profit, there is no good reason for GM not to offer it. This is why I'm inclined to believe that any future Z28 might have some automatic option available probably with paddle shifters.

All Im gonna say is x eleventy billion

I don't have to read those magazines, I lived it back in the day. The only regular production (excluding COPOs and Yenko, etc.) '69 SS Camaro that was a problem for the '69 Z/28 in the 1/4 were the SS 396/375 and it was often a driver's race decided by driver skill, anywhere else like following me down the county backroads the SS396/375 was lost. I bought my '69 Z/28 in 1969 and was a member of a local Chevy performance club back then, there were plenty of opportunities at our rallies and drag strip outings to see just what the cars would do, one of my best friends had a SS 396 Camaro and was in the same club, so I'm well aware of what those cars would do. Back on topic, I feel sure that if a new Z/28 is offered it will also have an auto trans option and I'm OK with that, that gives everyone a choice to option it like they want it.
