Yep, I've been eyeballing that MRT. That's one of the things I'm thinking about getting in 2011.

All that, if budget is the primary concern, and it allows $26k, the Mustang, with premium pack, might be the better buy. More options, slightly better performance (I'll give it that, although in the v6 section, we have a 2011 Mustang owner who hasn't seen 13s yet), but less wow factor. However, if like some, the wow factor is important, that I can't wait to drive it feeling, the Camaro, by what I read you type, is what you are craving. Sex-on-wheels is a hard feeling to overcome.....puns not intended.

Thanks! And thanks, BackinBlack!

Yes, the car is tune... HOWEVER there is no real performance gain with a tune. The tune appears to be highly optimized from the factory... Main reason to get a tune is to adjust for certain mods... like straightening out your A/F after mods or turning off your rear O2s after going with long tube headers... etc.

Another reason would be if you have an automatic. The new tranny calibration is a BIG IMPROVEMENT! You can actually tell when the car shifts now! That and having my light throttle shift points bumped up...

Concept cars are very effected by market response. The Camaro wouldn't have looked the way it does if not for people's response to the concept car in '06 that they had "no intentions of producing".

The problem is...you really can't use it as-is on the street....or am I misunderstanding that? I'm sure there would be some emissions standards to overcome...but other than that...I think 75% of that car is possibly produce-able.

The big question though.....would enough people buy it?

I for one would love to see GM make this car.Have it compete with the new boss mustang. However, after watching the video and hearing that this is only a "Concept" car,I highly doubt GM will produce this car.It was also mentioned that this car was mainly made to show Camaro owners what could be possible with thier own camaro.Im sure if they produced the car it would be fairly expensive. Why would the average guy buy a Camaro that is probably priced aroung 60-70 grand when they could buy a new 'Vette.I love Camaros, but if it came down to a Camaro or a Corvette Im going Corvette all day long.Ford doesnt have this problem mainly because they dont have a Corvette type car in thier lineup.Thats one of the main reasons why the GT500 and other specialty Mustangs are so popular with the Ford faithful.

I was under the impression that the SSX package was a track only car. If that is the case, this is GMs answer to Ford Racing's (FR) FR500/Boss 302R factory race car that competes in Grand Am. This could also be a publicity stunt to sell GM aftermarket performance parts (like Fords 2005 Mustang GTR). I would say it's a combination of the two senarios, GM may want to field more Camaros in Grand Am since Stevensons Motorsports Camaro flopped.

Anyone who follows Grand Am Continental Tire series knows that the M3 and Mustang GT dominate the GS division. Now with the Boss 302R replacing the GT (surely to retake the title back from BMW), GM sponsored teams will fall behind without full factory support.

This also is a great advertisement, promoting factory warranty performance upgrades as Ford started in '05 with the Mustang GTR.
