Hmmm 370Z or Camaro SS....
That's tough. I think it's going to depend on what you use your car for. If it's going to be your DD, and the only roads it's going to see are public roads mostly then I'd say go with the Camaro SS. Not that straight line speed is very important, and the 370Z may not be too much slower than the Camaro SS but unless you really need the nimble and track capabilities of the 370Z, for autocross, or track days, then I'd say get the Camaro SS, which should also be competitive in those as well, maybe just not as much as the 370Z.... The 370Z will also be a little more fuel efficient, so if it's going to be a DD, then the 370Z may also be a little better for that. But it just depends on what you're going to use the car mostly for. Either way both aren't bad cars. I was actually just in a similar situation. I was debating between getting a (07-08) 350Z or a 06 Pontiac GTO. And for a few months I decided that I had wanted the 350Z, but then I realized I probably will need a back seat and bigger trunk, and the GTO is quicker than the 350Z, so for those reasons I ended up changing my mind and now I want the GTO. But I'm not going to regret getting one over the other, they are both great cars, just each have their own unique characteristics...

have you looked at the Z4 M-series coupe?
speed rivalling the camaro, handling of the 370z... used you can get it for less than either.

Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

I have a very simple solution.
Wait until you can test drive a 2SS and the 370Z and THEN make your decision. It makes absolute NO sense in waiting this long only to back out on something you've never gotten the chance to experience. |

I wasn't too impressed with the 370z figures that I read in the new R&T.
0-60 in about 5 sec 1/4 in 13.6 The camaro should romp on both of those while still holding around .9g's skidpad. So I bet the handling is similar on the two but the camaro will out gun the 370 in the straights. I thought the Z would have been lighter with all the hype. It came in around 3450lbs if I remember right. |

the lightest Z starts at 3200lbs and change while the heaviest runs to 3400lbs. Motortrend got a 4.7 0-60, which basically means two things. A. they are better at driving. and B. You can definately get a 4.7 and probably lower if you launch it right w/ manual. The 370z is going to loose in the straights, but more than that its going to FEEL slower because the huge gap in torque... but the Z will likely outhandle the camaro, just as it should being 600lbs lighter, smaller, and w/ 2 seats. Gas milage will be closer than you'd think in the real world with a slight edge to the Z.

IMHO go with the 370z. sure many people on here will flame me but when it comes down to it price is the number1 concern. i rather drop 30k on a 370z than 50k on a 2ss. and nobody nows how well the 370z will compare to the ss, so people shouldnt be saying ones better than the other. for the record the price of the canadian camaro is insanly high, i dont know what gm was smoken when the did that pricing.

50k on a 2SS??? What world did you price it in?!
EDIT:...nevermind...I forgot your were from up North. Is the Nissan really only 30k in Canada? To get a comparably equipped (to the 2SS) 350z, it's more than $37,000 USD. |
