Is the ZL1 really going to be worth it?

Do you think that the next gen camaro, allegedlly to be released MY 2016, will be able to compare to the ZL1? Would it be worth waiting until then to see what Chevy comes up with, or is the ZL1 as good as its going to get?

You cant sit here and speculate what MIGHT come out in 4 years. I can promise you one thing, the insurance companies and government will start cracking down on these cars and we will not see the horsepower continue to increase. They did it before and they will do it again. If you think the ZL-1 is a good buy then get it. Why sit around and wait 4 years of your life hoping something better will come out???

If you wait for the 6th gen, why not wait for the 7th gen, by then you might as well wait for the 8th gen it will probably be hovering or flying

Seriously..... the ZL1 is awesome, will it be the biggest & baddest camaro ever to come.... who knows, it all depends on how much government intrusion the US citizens allow to happen in our lives..... the more restrictions the government puts on the auto manufactures the less likely there will be a progression of powerful cars.

There will ALWAYS be improvements to cars, but just possibly not power.... Just look at the changes/improvements that have happened to the 5th Gen since it came out 2.5 yrs ago (back up sensors, then cameras; magnetic ride suspension; H.U.D.; stronger driveline parts; stronger motors in the V6;etc)

Hopefully you are ready for it, but your life could be over in the next moment.... we never know...

Yes.

It's very likely they'll produce a better performing Camaro in the 6th generation. But 4 years is a LOOOONG time to wait. Only to have that model continually improve until what...2020? 2025? When does it end?

The ZL1 is punching into super car territory right NOW...for a Camaro price. It's absolutely worth it!!!

Besides...if you're the kind of person who likes to upgrade often...consider that you're sitting on 30-35k in vehicular assets by the time the new generation comes out...perfect for a healthy trade in!

Even if the 2016 is a lot better than the current ZL1 what about the 2020+ ZL1? Cars will continue to get better. You will be waiting forever because there will always be a better car.

The Nurburgring lap time says it all. For an American Muscle car coupe at this curb weight, it doesn't get any better than this. No way. The next gen would have to alter the chassis and design to go smaller and lighter to improve on this IMO. Sure they can up the power a bit, but that's going to alter the cars over all performance balance and harmony. The Nurburgring video clearly demonstrate that the power, handling and braking of this car is right on the money IMO.

I had my car up to 575 HP(507rwhp) and since I have done a good deal of weight loss as well as my power, handling and brake mods, my car handles extremely well at 3460lbs or so, but the power was too much, because no matter what, my car was not engineered and tested to have the 3 factors in harmony. The ZL1 obviously does. I'm hoping the 2013 GT500 also has stripped down and redesigned it's balance. We will see. Erik
