I think the difference in the V-6's will be one will be a normal engine and the other will be a direct injection like on the CTS. I am hoping that the V-8 will be at least 420-450 hp and is called the Z28. If they bring annother V-8 out during later production I think it will just be some simple tuning like heads or pulleys maybe a chip, all stuff I think most of us can do in our garages.

you mean the Mustang? Cause they both had 'GT' in their names...if so - how do you figure?

shows how bloated the GT500 is. and a 900 hp Ford GT? Run a stock GT against a stock Z06 and then you have a good match.

I can't wait! And the release isn't until January 09. The first ones will be produced in October 08. I'm the first one on the list at the main dealer near me. They've guaranteed me a V8 by the end of January 09.

I'm no Fbodfather, but I would put good money on the following engine lineup:

Base V6 - 3.6 VVT (252 hp)

Alternate V6 - 3.6 VVT DI (300 hp)

V8 - Same V8 that will be in the Pontiac G8 GT (360 hp)

For my money, I'd get the DI'd 3.6 with the same hp that was in the last 4th gen 5.7 V8! Get it with a 6 speed, save some on insurance and gas, and still have one sweet Camaro.

I would add the LS3, but that looks pretty good

yep. though I'd change one thing...check this out:

In terms of MSRP, GM sources told the magazine a V6 model will retail from $21,000. It will feature a 3.9-liter powerplant with a six speed automatic or manual
btw, the only 3.9's GM has right now are VVT... and the one in the Impala pushes out 233hp.

233hp for a base V6 isn't all that much. With VVT, it isn't a bad option. But, I'd much rather have a V6 with 250-300 and VVt as a base. Let's make the buying public who can't afford the insurance or the big V8 at least happy w/ the V6. That's how you are going to sell 100K of these a year.

That would be true if they weren't going to have 2 V6s. The 3.9 would be the base economy v6 while the higher horse one would be the performance v6.

That's what I was thinking...assuming, of course, that there will be 2 V6's.

I'm with you on that one. 300 hp is definitely a great start.

Don't believe anything you read about powertrains -- there have been some recent changes -- and that's all I'll say about that...................
