TIPS for Camaro5 Fest!!!
Well I thought this would be a great thread for anyone who has never been to a fest or just wants to know some more tips for the trip. Last year was my first fest to and here is three tips I would like to share.
1) Bring Sunscreen...IDK about BG this year, but Houston was flamin'! 2) Bring a helmet to do ride alongs if you aren't going to race, I rode in the JDP Camaro and wow, that was fun!! (there is a certain type of helmet you have to have. I just can't remember the specs.) 3) Bring more money than you think you'll need.. I am sure all of you have some of your own tips you'd like to share, so feel free to add your own personal tips in this thread. I think this could be very useful! |

Yes be sure to bring more money than you will think you will need.
Nothing better than going to an event and not have to worry about cash flow and being able to enjoy yourself. I always figure I'm going to spend at least 100 bucks a day after the room and gas(there and back) is paid.

Agreed, Jordan can drive the HELL out of that car! Pretty sure for the Autocross it can be SNELL rated or DOT rated. I know for almost all HPD Events the helmet needs to be SNELL rated, at least down here in Texas that's the case.

So would a motorcycle helmet qualify for bracket racing?

I don't think so but I think that someone is checking with Beechbend to find out for sure. A motorcycle helmet is not SA rated. Pretty positive it will need to be a helment that is SA2010. Again not sure but most HPDE and Autox events require that helment and not a motorcycle helment.

I'm pretty sure motorcycle helmets won't work as they're not rated for multiple impacts (head bouncing around in car) and they are made of a different polymer and can shrink fit to your head in the event of a fire.

Yes. Its about what I spend by myself on average. 100 bucks a day so I budget 120 bucks a day just in case.

Don't say that, if your helmet don't qualify you can pick a SA2010 for $160 at amazon.

Usually drag racing will allow Snell M or Snell SA 2005 or newer but with it being 2015 that may have changed to 2010 or newer.
For autocross and if you're doing NCM trackday you're going to want an Snell SA or the DOT equivalent rating. We usually have a few loaners, but they run out fast. You can pick up a decent one in the 170-250$ dollar range on saferacer.com or a similar site. I would stay away from the super cheap ones you can find on some other websites. http://www.saferacer.com/auto-racing...sa2010-helmets |
