You have to PAY TO USE PHONE IN CAR?!
So I picked up my car for the first time since I orderred it in early august. As Im pulling out of the dealer my salesman tells me to go through the first OnStar call, then I find out I have to buy minutes to use the car phone feature? Nearly 50 cents per minute is expensive on top of my phone bill. I currently have an Iphone 3gs. So is there any way to bypass the system and not have to use the OnStar Minutes.. HELP!

.....look in the manual under bluetooth. You sync up your phone and then you use your phone's plan to call...it's just like making a call with your phone except it plays through the speakers and the microphone picks up your voice.... your salesman did a pretty terrible job of informing you of what you were buying but again..check the manual it's very clear.

That's only if you want to use the ONSTAR phone. Your phone via bluetooth is no extra charge. Through ONSTAR you can have a new phone number and make calls via the onstar buttons. But as you stated above... the minutes are very expensive.

Nick, IF you WANT to use the OnStar phone in your, you hit the the little PHONE button on the rearview mirror, adn yes, there is a charge that is like .50/min. After you pair up YOUR cell phone using bluetooth, and you want to make a call, hit the phone button on your steering wheel and off you go, you are using YOUR sell phone. NO ADDITIONAL charges.

Always read the manual on anything you are not familiar with. Always read the instructions on anything new. It will give you added feature availabilities and an in depth knowledge of the systems that your Dealer/Teachers/Mom/Dad/Gradma/Grandpa/Friends/Brothers/Sisters/ect,...
can ever give you + you won't have to ask to be led |

I believe that OnStar has a way to use your cell minutes, but you have to be a Verizon customer. I just paired my Bluetooth Cell to the car and use that. As others have said, check the manual. It is actually very easy...
