I see your point, but a lot of people on this site are saying "why not just fix _____ yourself". Well shoot, I don't wanna buy a brand new car and spend $2000 fixing stuff that'll be out the next model year. I'd rather buy it with the base stuff I want (HUD, 3.73s, etc) and use my extra cash for performance mods.

That's just me.

Different gauges?

From a post a while back and these look pretty good to me. Maybe US vs. Canada? I hope!

From this thread which look not as good:

Maybe they look different when it's on or something?

Sadly, I think they may have crappified the gauges a bit :( (nevermind, see below)

Isn't one the V6 and the other the V8?

Yes but I think the gauges are largely the same.

But actually I think the gauges are the same. The cooler one is just when they're all lit up. From earlier this thread by HeatherR...

Heather's car is Canadian. So it's Speedo is in Kilometers per hour (SS). The other photo was of a US-spec 2LT car. That's the only real difference besides being lit up.

Here's a non-lit SS (SS speedo goes to 180 but LT 'only' goes to 160)

Is there some point to having extra numbers in red color beyond 125MPH? Why does the speedo have a delineation line at that speed and then some numerals in red?

Looks like they cheaped out and reused some kind of color lens from the tach over again on the speedo. I know it's not what they did, but it gives the impression of it.

from what i understand:

-the US models are written to 160/180mph for the v6/v8
-the canadian models are written to ?/300kmh for the v6/v8

the difference between the v6 and the v8 in both the us and canadian model is the v6 lettering is a bit taller and farther spaced apart (due to the lack of the additional speed mark).

someone please correct me if i'm wrong.

p.s. bonus points for whoever knows what the canadian v6 goes to, speed wise...

So what's so special about 125 that it gets a special large "tick" mark?

The numbers on the US speedo look better to me. Longer and more stretched thin (read retro) than the metric.

Maybe I'm seeing things.

It's the GM version of ludicrous speed.

No, they are. I think they had to do that because of spacing/size.
