OEM Ambient lighting?
Just purchased a brand new 2015 2SS/RS with NPP last month. Loving it so far. Question: The ambient lighting that is on the doors, is it supposed to make its way from door to dash to the opposite door? If that makes sense. It just seems like the light should curve from one door on too the dash to the other door. Thank you

The sad answer is 'no'. But wait! There's more!
Check out Gen5DIY.com - he makes a kit that allows you to add the matching ambient lighting strip that will connect door-to-door.

Here is one of the DIYs, the other popular ones are linked in there as well, but they are huge.

alright I've been searching for this answer for a while now so I am going to ask. Are the door panels lit up on all the '2' models? 2LS, 2LT, 2SS? Or is it part of the RS pkg?
Also which kit is better? the SJM or the Gen5DIY? both about the same price? preferences? thanks dan

From what I have read the SJM and Gen5DIY end up being about the same price. My vote is for SJM, mainly because that is what I choose and had a great experience. He custom makes the kits to order, and I ordered the OEM blue so the lead time ( and the Post Office delivering to the wrong place) was a little long. But the kit works perfect.
I cannot speak for the Gen5DIY more than what I have read. I will say I did have to make a trip to the hardware store for some weatherstripping for the install. Another $3-$4. I believe I will try to sand down the pieces in the near future in order to make it more OEM like. I will say that the current install is brighter than the doors. But I installed it ( trying to optimize brightness) thinking I would need it to be as bright as possible. It is not too bright, it just appears before the doors. The doors are shining through the plastic. All of this said, either way make sure you research what this mod is and how it actually works ( weatherstripping install.) Some may be disappointed that the install is designed to achieve the overall appearance of OEM, but it does it in a different manner by creating a gap above the panels for the light to shine through (unless of course you sand your panels ) I feel like you should understand that you are not simply adding a piece that could be considered an OEM solution. Mine looks great and functions perfectly, it dims at the same time the doors do, and the color from SJM matches OEM perfectly.

Thanks for that reply. I want the lights to go all the way around, I think that would look real good.
Which Trim levels come with the door lights though? I am about to buy a 2LT/RS but i didnt see it at night with the headlights on. It doesnt have the GM ABL kit, but I thought that was just for the floor lights and the cup holders. Dan

The 2s have the ABL in the doors.
If the panels are cloth covered they do not have ABL |
