Not just a joke, but a good point..."6 speed" is a worthless way to describe it, since they're all 6 speed transmissions. Just call it "manual".

I ordered the Hurst. Haven't gotten it yet for comparison, but I find the stock throws to be very long compared to my stock 2007 Vette throws (no longer own the Vette). I kinda like the stock shifter knob, but I ordered a chrome Ball knob.

I have the 6speed manual SS and I'll keep it factory. Knob feels just fine, good size for me. Shift throws OK, but I'm not a rev and dump driver. Nice, smooth and comfortable.

If you try the hurst(aftermarket version that is currently out) then you will immediately want one in your car. Stock shifter isn't terrible but it isn't great either. I had hurst installed last week and will never look back. I absolutely love it. If your thinking aobut a hurst don't wait for the GM version is more expensive more than likely and not as short of a throw. I had about 2000 miles on the stock one if you were curious.

I don't mind the stock shifter...as far as a stock shifter goes, It's not bad. I've never missed a gear. That said, I'll be ordering either a MGW or a HURST at some point...because I'm sure it'll be better than stock.

All i can tell you is if you like the OEM you will love the hurst, And if you want to run the factory Knob on your hurst you can its up to you, Now i like the T-Handel the most.

I had the stock shifter and installed the new Hurst billet- I love it. The feel of the shifter is much better. I don't drag race or anything, but it also adds that old school look which I love. I've had a lot of positive comments on it.

Like anything though, it's personal choice- it is louder, but not in a way that is annoying.

I haven't driven the Camaro yet, but from the many different manual cars I've driven that had stock regular shifters compared to the stock short throw shifter that was on my 350Z...the short throw feels much better. It's much more notchy which I like because you know exactly what gear you're going into and there is definitely a noticeable resistance when pushing the shifter into a gear. All in all I think short throw shifters have a much more mechanical feel to them allowing the driving to sort of "be one with the car". I hope when my Camaro gets here the stock shifter isn't too sloppy or else I'll have to change it.
