Camaro advertising absent?

Has anyone seen any ads or commercials for the new Camaro? Maybe I'm just living under a rock, but I haven't seen one ad or a tv commercial.

With all the excitement this new car is generating for the General, I would think they'd be blanketing the media to get people into the showrooms.

What's up?

Since they are still behind on orders it does not make alot of sense to advertising when all the cars they are building are sold to dealers. If they start having cars sitting around at the factory not sold then they will probably push it.

And...they have included the Camaro in broad brand-oriented commercials. As well as this more recent one:

Just think about what you said though: "With all the excitement this new car is generating for the General" You see why maybe they wouldn't need to pump so much money into advertising it? They're handily outselling all their competitors, without heavy advertising and without sales incentives!! That's awesome!!

Cars like these tend to sell themselves. It's always been that way, if somebody wants a sports car, they know where to look. That said; advertising money is spent on more than just commercials: internet Ads, magazine test-drives, SEMA projects...all that generates news, and takes money to put on...marketing money.

The Corvette has only advertised when they launched a brand new model. The C5 add ran for a VERY short time. The C6 add was the one with the kid dreaming about driving and flying a Corvette. That was pulled for all the doomsayers that protested.

Camaro is a halo car and is currently selling everything. So spending money on advertising a product with great awareness and great sales probably isn't the best use of advertising dollars right now.

I did see a Howie Long Chevy commercial internally using the Camaro. I don't know if it ever aired though, I haven't seen it.

I agree. Why would you spend loads of money to increase demand for an item selling as fast as you can produce it? You wouldn't.

ps - The Chevy commercials - Howie - gray background - all silver Chevy's - make me wanna

usually they dont make commercials for sports car, that goes for any car maker... they would rather show cars that have really good MPG, or cars like for the average person....

None yet, but commercials specific to just one GM vehicle are rare these days. Usually it's a single commercial for (insert GM franchise here) featuring 2 or more of their vehicles. But let's face it, they don't need to spend money advertising Camaro, it's in short supply already...

You don't really need to advertise much when demand for your unadvertised product exceeds production for nearly a full year.

Saw the above 'YouTube' posted commercial on a few NASCAR races towards the end of the season...LOVED IT!!!...

I agree, there really is no need to advertise the Camaros at this point when the orders are still exceeding production...

Advertising = desperation. At least when it comes to the automotive industry. If the car is selling well, you won't see constant adds for it. Because if it is good... you'll already know about it.

And as previous posters mentioned, why spend additional money on advertising something you can't produce fast enough as is.

Lastly... I don't remember advertisements for any Generation Camaro, other than what I saw in print, here and there. A Camaro never needed advertisement.

(Most of the car adds on now are all about getting rid of '09 inventories.)

I've seen 3. 1 with Howie talking about GM/Chevy vehicles in general, 1 without him, doing the same thing, and another with Bobby Orr talking about test driving the Camaro before release.
