*&(ked up transmission/clutch
well i think the trans or clutch or both are screwed. To start off i missed a shift from 2nd to 3rd and it went into 1st. I dont see how that should even be possible but it did. after it happened it was really hard to get into any gear but 4th, even at a stop. i finally got the car moving and into first. thing is now 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear really make noise and are really hard to get into. once moving 4th, 5th and 6th aren't that noisy but you can still hear something going on in there. also when this happened the cab filled with the smell of clutch smoke. Guess its back to the dealer to see what kinda *%ckin i can get. im sure it'll be the same ol story "abuse". What do you all think?

Same ol story? sounds like you've been there before...haha. I believe if you just bring it in and say the tranny sounds funny they'll take a look and fix it without any problem. Good luck with it.

yeah if driving it like ur suppose to is abuse then i guess i did. Only thing is i've had a 95 z-28, a 99 cobra, and an 03 cobra that was plenty modified and none of them ever had an issue like this after a missed gear. i guess im the only person that has ever missed a gear in anything.

bottom line is i didnt buy the top of the line V-8 6 speed car to have it go to crap. All im looking for is possible input of what may have happened, besides that fact that i missed a gear and it was "driver error".

Missing a gear happens to the best of us, I do not care what anybody says. You buy theses cars to bang gears. Take it to the dealer. You shouldnt have a problem. Especially if you are a good customer of theirs.

thats kinda what i wanted to hear, im glad there are other people out there that can admit that they've missed a gear. if you havent you haven't driven a sports car to its full potential. And considering my brother used to work at the dealership i got it from and still stops in weekly to BS with the techs im hoping that i dont have a problem with warranty. Thanks guys!

I just think it is funny to see some guys come on here and bash you for missing a gear. This means they probably have a Corvette mindset and do not take their Camaro above 4 grand.

My clutch blew apart while on the highway going from 5th to 6th apparently when it schredded it took the tranny with it. Gm replaced everything including the clutch, trans ,slave cyclinder, flywheel, throwout bearing and a bunch of other stuff I never heard of. GM asked the dealer if there were signs of abuse and the dealer said no. Which there were not. No tire roasting on my part. I did and do drive it hard but never did a huge tire smokin burn out so no rubber in my wheel wells Bad part is it took almost a month to get repaired and I was stuck driving a stripped cobalt. But it was warrentied and that is what mattered to me!

ahhh shit...even if their is signs of abuse, the dealer could possibly goodwill the work under warranty. I have seen it been done. The s/c Cobalt SS is a perfect example. I saw a lot of them come into the dealership I worked at before we lost the franchise back in OCT of 09. ****ing kids thought those cars had an M22 Rock Crusher in them.

well im glad to see that they atleast treated u right by fixing it all instead of scabbing it back together just to have the same problem come up later on. i personally think that all trans related problems with these cars are clutch related. and it all stems from there wonderful hydraulic slave problem that they have had with everything from the corvette to the GTOs, and now it gets passed down to us camaro owners. |
