Simple enough...it'll be interesting to see how the price turns out, and which 'formula' guestimators used was correct!

If the price is over 50, it will take a lot of buyers, including me most likely, out of the picture. I would hope for a base price not more than $48500. Even this will make many look at the Vette, as would I if I didn't have two kids.

Not a chance Lance! Chevy wants to compete with the GT500. If they price the car in the high 50's there goes a shot at competing. Sure they car will compete performance wise but sales would not be there. No way it will be high 50's. I can see low 50's to high 40's.

Same discussion was had in 2009 before GM released the pricing of the 5th gen Camaros.
They said the cars would be priced competitvely with the competiton and they were. Now they're saying the same thing again. Trust them. Look at GT500 pricing and add a small premium. I have faith.

I will throw my .03 cents in here as well.
To me it depends on what you want. By that I mean this. I wanted a Muscle Car like those from years past. While this one is vastly different because of technology nonetheless it is still a muscle car in my mind. Muscle Cars of yester year you tinkered with, worked on, hopped up, whatever you want to call it. I really applaud people like PQ who step out there and actually do the work himslf on his mods because that is really what hot rodding is about to me, ME I am just scared, LOL. Plus it passes for some great entertainment, sorry Randy. With that being said everyone is trying to base the worth of the ZL1 vs the 2SS modded either way it's all about having fun and having a bad assed ride. So what if it came out of the box with 550 or you added some stuff and made 550 it's still your ride. Some can not put 50k or so out at once but 36 is easier and mod at their own pace either way it is still a Camaro, it is Still the Baddest thing around and you still get Perma Grin. Other wise go spend 150k and buy the Big Dog Vette and be done. JMHO |

msrp = $47,500(starting base model), is what my guestimate would be, but I could be wrong, for the 1rst time.

My thoughts exactly. I know everyone is very excited about the new ZL1 right now, as am I, but I can honestly say I WILL pass on this vehicle. I really like my 2SS and cannot justify paying $50,000 for a car, and I love to buy new cars! The 2SS was priced to sell to a vast number of buyers. After adding the "luxury" options that should have come STANDARD with the 2SS, you end up paying closer to $40,000. Once you reach $40,000 for a car, you add some "sting". As much as I love driving a car like this, $40,000 was my pressure point with the 2SS. I would rather spend the money on a 4 X 4 as they hold their value much better than cars, at least where I live. If I were to spend more than $40,000 on a car like the ZL1, you would see me driving a Vet, plain and simple. GM hit another home run with the ZL1, but I'm affraid they will price themselves out of sales. Sorry to be a "Debbie Downer"...lol. M |

Hello!
|
Based on the cost of a GT500...this one will come in around $52K for base and with options...right at $60K, little under maybe.
This is not going to start in the $40s folks...I am not sure why anyone would think that? Loaded 2SS is right at $36K...add in $15K for all the extras (to make it a ZL1) and you are sitting at $51K...GM typically sells a tad higher than Ford for comparable models and there is your $52K base... |

If I can get out the door with under 50k I can probably get one (not until 2013 though), otherwise I'll probably go with the 2SS.
My honest opinion is that it will be just over 50k though. :-\ |

I love the car...but the price possibilities is scary. I like the gt500s...this will be good competition for sure.

I don't know where some of our posters are getting $60K prices on a CTS-V. That car is over $70K MSRP loaded...and they sell plenty of CTS regular cars to help keep it at that price
The ZL-1 is going to have a hard time coming in under $60K fully equipped So, I give a +1 to Legend above, but I think it's going to be a shade higher..more like $58-$63K depending on options. Under $50K is absurdly out of the question GM cannot afford to undermine the pricing structure on any Corvette model nor the CTS-V |
