Questions re: swapping
So, bottom line...how much are you guys averaging $$$ wise to do the swap, and what constitutes a good th-400 for transplant? I.e.: any specific model years, what modifications to make it worthwhile/make sense to convert from manual? Theoretically car would be used for track duty and street shenanigans on occasion.

1963-1995 is the official production years of the th400 although Chevy didn't start using it until 1965. Caddy and Buick used it before then. The early ones had a better drum but other than that they are all basicly the same. Its been used from the factory in anything from Hummer H1s to a few Jaguars and Mercedes and Bentleys even.
I've got about $3k in my swap. I used a lot of good parts too.

I am trying to decide if i wanna do th400 or 4l80e. Has anyone been able to get good worth while gains/results in e/ts by going m6 to a3 or a4 with a bolt on and or cam only car? Or not worth it?
my stock ls2 a4 gto was quicker than my camaro at the track, while my camaro traps 4 mph better. I just cant drive. Lol |

What all is involved with making a TH400 fully manual? Just the manual valve body?
