Cool!
I actually think that's a really hot lookin' car! Far more aggressive looking than the Prius...though that car doesn't set a particularly high benchmark ... and even though aerodynamics has constrained the design somewhat...It looks good! Can't wait to see the final, production model. Someone mentioned how GM might do ordering/etc for this car...I think last I heard the first model year was going to be some 10,000 or so cars...so they can focus...and get it "righter than right". The next model year will be more, and then more in the next, etc, etc, etc. Also...as the model years progress...the car should get a little cheaper, too. EDIT -- and I won't hesitate to say that for my daily-driver I'll need to replace the cobalt in a half a decade or so.....this thing is WAY high up on the list. |

No thanks.
One of my all time favorite quotes from a different car forum I frequent, "I downshift next to hybrids so they can hear me killing the environment." And I always do. Always. |

I do hope the car does well.
6th Gen Camaro will probably have a powertrain like Volt just faster like Tesla sports coupe. |

^Keep politics out of the forums.
I think the Volt looks a whole lot meaner then the Prius. The Insight is crap, the Prius is a tleast moderatly big inside.

That design to me is just as ugly as the Prius.. I would never buy one of these in a million years unless they can make it look like a sports car and have the performance of a sports car...I would buy a Camaro for example with the Volts engine in it if it gave me the same torque and speed as the current LS3 and got 40mpg or above.. But I sure would miss the rumble..
And yes the side looks like a Prius and Insight. however the front staring straight on looks nicer.. But I still would not get into that death-trap.. Prius Volt

The Tesla is a beast though, so I wouldn't mind that at all. That little SOB moves. It's so heavy that it won't make a turn at turn at high speeds worth crap, but that's beside the point.

Crash Test "stars" are the real illusion. They don't properly take into account the added mass of another vehicle hitting it...The "smart" car might do fine against a wall, or a sliding anvil; where the only force is caused by its own weight and size.....but in the real world, it has to duel with normal-sized cars and SUVs... EDIT: I didn't read your post...so I didn't know you were referring to the Volt when speaking about saftey, etc.....I kinda disagree on the grounds that it's a 'normal' sized car; compact, maybe...but still normal - I'd hardly consider it a "deathtrap"...if it was smaller...well, then see above. |

I'm very happy to see the hard work going into the Volt. It will be revolutionary for GM's image.
Maybe we should get the admins to start Volt1.com.
