did you have to buy extra clamps for this mod or can you reuse all the stock clamps?

You can reuse the stock clamps.

I used regular hose clamps by the firewall simply because it was easier for me to get a small socket up by the firewall to tighten them. On he water pump side of it I used the factory clamps because they look a little better to me and they were easy to put back on.

When using the metal hoses the engine looks like it was built that way, it's a more natural appearance.
The rubber hoses regardless of the location looks like some kind of workaround fix however, much better looking when they're not spread across the top of the motor.

Reallistically, I'm amazed GM would put hot rubber heater hoses across the top of the engine.

Does anyone know if the 2011 / 2012 models have these hoses across the top of the engine too?

FYI i found the gates heater hoses @ autozone and NAPA
PN# gates 18077 = E87610 / NBH 10077
PN# gates 18078 = E87611 / NBH 10078

I do not remember seeing anything about moving the heater hoses in the installation instructions for the coil covers when I was looking at them. Come to think of it, I do not remember seeing the hoses across my intake the one time I had the engine cover off, guess I need to look.

Hey guys. Thanks for all the info posted here. I just got my hoses and will be doing this mod this weekend.

Question. By burping, do you mean just removing the top cap to let air escape then closing it?

If that's not correct please let me know. THANKS AGAIN GUYS!

I love this forum.

Ok Did this today and a few tips.

1. I hate working with anti-freeze. Really I do. (add brake fluid to the list too)

2. Get your self a hose cutter, useing mine made this 100% easier, cut the hoses at the pump/water neck and at the firewall. Then I didnt have to mess with them at all after that.

3. CUT the hoses off the nipples at both ends with a box knife, it may take several passes but it saves time.

4. Burping the radiator...

First, realize you wont get all of the antifreeze back in on the first pour, I didn't and spilled from overflow all over the radiator/intake.

Second, Don't expect to sit and run the car at idle or by reving the engine to 2-3k to get the temp up. My temps got to 250 but the water pump/thermostat/fan never kicked on. The car has to be moving. Got out and drove around the block and it instantly came on. parked and filled up again. Repeated the drive around the block and radiator is still full and all fluid in my catch can is gone.

Took a 30 min drive around the area around my house and checked the level and for leaks (sprayed down the engine before the drive to clean everything off). Will repeat tomorrow after work and if its good I'm calling it done.

Won't be surprised though if i need to top off the overflow tank it was low/empty, Ill have to drop by an auto parts store and pickup a small bottle.

You happen to have the part number for those 2012 hoses?
