Texas Motor Speedway Drag N Brag Plus Show N Shine

Is anyone going out to Texas Motor Speedway tonight for the weekly Friday event Drag-N-Brag?

I was thinking about heading out there sometime tonight and running my car for the first time....any other takers?

Can you give some more info about it, I've never been and would love to get in some runs.

Found this on their site:

Quote:
SCION drag-n-brag

When: Friday, August 13
Where: Texas Motor Speedway
Time: Gates open at 6:00 p.m. & racing begins at 9:00 p.m.
Address: 3545 Lone Star Circle, Ft. Worth, TX 76177 – Gate 3 Entrance
Promotion Details: Be entertained by the fast racing and entertainment happening on Pit Road while fans race against each other for bragging rights. Admission is only $7 and there are great concession and souvenir deals to be had. Stop by your neighborhood O’Reilly Auto Parts store to get your 2 for 1 admission coupon.
The Texas Motor Speedway Showcar Program will be onsite at the Show-n-Shine event, also open to the public, with the Interstate Batteries Showcar display and XBOX Gaming system. Bring your car out to drag or put on display and make it a great summer evening event for you, your family or friends.
Apparently they convert a pit lane to an 1/8 mi. strip. I'd be interested if it was 1/4, but at 1/8 I'll pass.

I didn't realize that it was only 1/8 mile...I just heard about it on the radio and foolishly assumed it would be a 1/4. Might still make it out though, can't go wrong checking out some other nice cars in the area!

I ran it. Did pretty well for my first time until I came up against a GT500. He got me by about a cars length. I did beat 2 Challengers pretty easily though.

I saw your runs. Did very well. I wanted to run but had a couple beers before hand so decided against it. Who was in the other camaro? He did really well against that Ferrari.

Wish I'd known about this, I haven't checked the forums in a while so it's my own fault though haha. Maybe I can make it out next time. By the way Gooch, LOVE the wheels :-)

I didn't end up making it obviously, wish I had after reading this! I am definitely going to try and make it this Friday. What all cars were running that night besides Camaros, GT500, Challengers and a Ferrari?

rforbes do you have any mods? Did they hand out time slips?

Unfortunately this is the last one of the year for this event. I know alot of these guys go up to Denton raceway also. I may go check that out sometime.
As far as mods, mine is fairly stock. CAI, headers and a tune. There was no timing, just for fun. There were all kind of cars that were parired up according to cylinders, and mods. I knew the the GT would take me since it obviously has more horsepower and is lighter. Too bad I had to go up against him so early or I might have been able to last a little longer. I beat several different cars in the practice runs although it was funny, well not too funny, but a cobalt SS with a turbo gave me a run for my money . It was a really good time though.

Drag-N Brag next year

I was thinking about having a Camaro5 special weekend event next year at TMS. It would be one weekend only with an event having 5th gen Camaro's in it. If you are interested then PM or email me and I will work on it with TMS. It will probably take 30+ cars to make it possible, not too hard to do in the DFW area.

Many of you already know that Xtreme has been involved in this event since inception. We would like to make it better with your help.
Thanks
