Exclamation THE FINAL WORD on Auto Armor...

Auto Armor is a polish. NOTHING MORE!!! NO TEFLON!!! Straight from the bottle here are the ingredients...

"Ingredients: Water, Mineral Spirits, Clay, Petrolleum Distillates, Stoddard Solvent."

No Teflon in there. Nada. Zilch. Zero.

Regardless of what BS the dealerships tell you, they DO NOT bake it on and it does NOT adhere to the clearcoat any more than regualr carnuba wax and it DOES NOT have Teflon in it. If they actually had a Teflon coating that adheres to your clear coat, the heat required for bonding would burn your paint off and the burn the rest of your car up too.

They apply this polish by hand and either buff it off by hand or use a buffer. See complaints about swirl marks in some of the forums here.

Read the directions on bottles of the Auto Armor they give you at the dealership or see above photo...

"Apply a small amount of Auto Armor Paint Protection Cleaner/Renewer to a dampened, clean, soft cloth. Apply to one section at a time and allow to dry to a haze. Buff with clean, dry, soft cloth to remove haze. Repeat process over entire vehicle."

Dealers say this is supposed to last on clear coats for 5 years. Then why do you have to re-apply it??? It's all a bunch of BS they feed gullible buyers who know no better.

I'll save you the $500+, I'll Auto Armor your car for $150 and throw in the tire shine for free. BUT I won't give you free refills of Auto Armor polish, you'll have to go buy a quality wax for yourself after my initial application or pay me $19 per bottle of Turtle Wax Ice.

SAVE your money people!!! Auto Armor is a RIP-OFF!!!

I bought a bottle of clear coat sealant with teflon from ardex for 14 bucks and it was 32 oz enough to do about 20 cars with a durable teflon coating..... I knew the dealership thing was a scam. If you wax your car twice a year it will look good in 5 yrs even if you use shit wax

Considering Teflon itself has a melting point north of 600* anyone claiming they'll treat your car with it or has a product that will apply it to your paints surface is either feeding you a line of BS or they have one hell of a very big and powerful oven. Not to mention Teflon is a registered trademark of the DuPont corporation and unless its licensed with them the chances it contains anything remotely resembling teflon is a slim and none.

Friends don't let friends buy dealer paint protection scams.

The product they put on is not the same as the cleaner renewer bottle they give you. They do just apply by hand or buffer no baking. What you get is a 5 yr warranty against acid rain, droppings etc.. etching your paint. That is what you are paying for, a warranty, insurance. The kit is just a wax cleaner. And it doesnt last for 5yrs, they will warranty it for that without reapplying. You should have it reapplied every 6 months to a yr. There was a dispute with Dupont that is why you do not see the word Teflon on anything. There is a big white jug in the clean up dept, that is the product that is applied . I know this because I worked around it for many yrs. There is some benefit to the product working. Realistically if you wax your car all the time you wont have a problem. But no wax company will warranty for 5 yrs. against spotting in the clear coat. They are good about taking care of issues and repainting if necessary.

I think the issue lies more in how its sold - 99.9% of customers I see who paid for the "paint protection" were led to believe that they didn't need to care for the paint for 5 years. I'd chalk it up to basic customer misunderstanding, but the line all of them bought seems to be identical... unfortunately even my father in law fell for it.

"I got the dealer paint protection. Its a coating they put on so you don't have to wax the car for 5 years. It has teflon in it and all you need to do is wipe the car off every once in awhile"

A LOT of folks fall for the paint protection scheme.

It is polish, nothing more.

Again, Teflon and other non-stick products require an enormous amount of heat to bond to anything. Your car would burn up if they actually tried to bond Teflon or whatever to it.
