Agreed. It gets *cold* up here in central Canada, and I'm not parking my car for eight months out of the year !

I just checked the winter package deals at Tire Rack online, and they have 3 recommended sizes for my 2LT/RS, but the top (least expensive) recommendation is:

17" Recommended: 225/65-17

The profile of that size tire would keep the same outside diameter as the stock 20" Pirellis, but I'm worried about fitting the recommended 17" wheel.

Has anyone fit a 17" wheel on an LT? It looks like it should fit and clear the brake line and caliper, but I wanted to check if anyone has tried this.

Thanks,
Mike

Well im getting new summer tires and wheels. So old 18" wheels Im going to use as winter wheels. (18x7,5")

225/60-18 winter tires should fit factory wheels.

Either everybody with the SS has a winter beater or almost nobody seems to care about winter tire info for the SS. I don't know why, but I feel like I'm the only person who will drive the SS all year! I really don't like the 3-4 wheel styles tirerack offers, and it really is hard finding winter tires that fit the SS. The widest I've found is 255, but people say 245 fits on the 20x9 wheel too, but I would've like to stay closer to the stock width. I don't want the tires popping off!

I'll be buying bigger wheels for next summer, probably 20x10 or 20x10.5 and I really just want to use the stock wheels for the winter! I'll probably end up going to the only shop in town that makes it easy to find winter tires (tirerack) but I really was hoping for more options well over a year after the 2010 Camaro's introduction.

I know everyone's guy is "the best" but the guy we've been using really knows his stuff. We've taken his recommended sizes for everything from cars, vans, trucks, and trailers. He's never steered us wrong and all the tires have performed like champs.

He recommends 225/60R18 for the 2LT/RS. That's for southern Ontario weather.

Nope your not the only one. Our car is a year round driver, and everything you said is true, it's hard to find winter tires that fit the factory rims sizes. Thats why I thought it would be great to have a sticky because I see this topic comeing up every fall and it would be great to have insite other than what you find on Tirerack.

I have a 2011 1SS that will be on the road 365 days out of the year until the loan is done! Where I live we get "Lake Effect" snow (>200 inches per winter). I have driven Jeeps to a Mini Cooper S and still look forward to, that's right people, I look forward to driving in the winter because I bought this car to use it. The thought of fishtailing and powerslides is WHY I have this RWD!!! Let me step down now. . .

I have been researching, calling, visiting and freaking out trying to get at least a set of 19 inchers by 7 if they make them, but will probably end up with 19x8 rims. Blizzaks are my favorite winter boots. If it werent for the Brembos I would mount 17" wheels just for increased pothole insurance.

Hope this thread produces more results than BS for the both of us!

I'm putting winters on an extra pair of 18" steelies. I will be doing an H rated tire, not going to an S or T. I'm torn between the 245/55 Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snows, or going to a 225/60 and doing either the Pirelli 210 Sottozero or the Blizzak LM-60. The Blizzak is a little less appealing because it is priced a good chunk higher than the Pirelli. If I weren't afraid of the V rated option, there is a nice looking Goodyear Ultra Grip GW3 also... what do you guys think?

I will be going with these. I will be putting them on my stock rims. Then I will just get new rims next summer for my stock tires.
