Cheap solution for Subwoofer Enclosure

I found a 12" subwoofer enclosure at the Fry's that works perfectly. It's just a temp, so I can have some bass, before I get my ******** ordered and do it right.

Here's the deal though.

http://www.frys.com/product/6192219?...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG

Now I didn't know it, but the beauty of this unit is, if you lay it down, so the speaker points up towards the rear deck, and shove it as firmly as you can towards the back seat it will wedge very nicely into place under the brace where the stock subwoofer mounts are.

What's great about that is:

a. The price is right
b. I don't loose a bunch of space in my car, and I find that 1 400 watt dual voice coil 12" sub is more than enough.
c. It's secure and not banging around loose in the trunk.
d. It's EASILY removable. Unwedge it, and pull it out. I even gave myself more than enough speaker wire that I can place it on the ground without disconnecting it. Further easing removal and reinstall. Perhaps I'll crimp a molex on there too. That'd remove the excess cable.

I just did this, because I don't quite have the money to do it right. But I did have a 12" woofer, and amp just sitting around. No reason to live without bass, while I wait for my money to come in from various places.

I'll post pictures in a bit, but honestly, I'm rethinking the ******** option. I don't like having it in the corner, and I don't like losing my passthrough. This is the best of both worlds. (I prefer firing the woofers upwards, so they take the least reflective distance into the cabin. This helps punchiness as the sound doesn't bounce around the trunk getting muddy.)

It looks pretty much stock, you really can't tell. Honestly it was the security of the box that sold me on it as a permanent solution. I had no plan of how to secure it.

I am, but I forgot about this thread. :(

I took some pix but forgot about it. The problem with a cheap box like that, is that the easiest way to get it in is wedge it. Well that's awesome, but the cheap back deck causes flex and it vibrates more than.

Well let's just say it's got a few rattles.

Oh well, back to the drawing board. The depth is pretty good in the trunk. facing forward or up it doesn't even quite make it to the end of the trunkline, meaning there's still quite a bit of room in there for luggage. Certainly WAY more than I had in the GTO with a similar box (which I replaced with a jokerbox as soon as he finished it.)

I'm going to be replacing this soon, but it works for now.
