SLP Loud Mouth _ My Review

Well, I just got done installing the SLP Loud Mouth exhaust on my 2SS/M6.........First impression on start up..... loud and a "raw" rumble....revving it wow, really loud and sounded good outside........

Now for inside the car......well......don't ride at 1800 to 2200 rpm's, mainly around 1900....lots of drone....it isn't bad on the highway in 6th gear until you get around 70+mph

I love the sound......but if the car is going to be a daily driver, I would NOT recommend this exhaust. You will not be happy, unless your drive is less than 10 minutes, do to the drone sound...then again you might like it

I will be driving it a lot tomorrow, so I will do a follow up tomorrow night and give the wife and kids perspective

You're in the wrong section...this is the V6 subforum. Too bad you don't like it, wish you luck finding something better.

DOH! All I saw was the exhaust, forgot to look for V8

Hopefully a mod will move it?

Is the rest of your exhaust oem from the axle back forward? Or did you only install the axle back? I was considering this axle back but now im concerned id like to hear a video from inside the car, the would be awesome.

Was originally in the V6 section.
Just add a simple set of j-pipes to kill the drone.

I installed the Loudmouth II axle back when I first got my car along with an Edlebrock X-pipe. Loved the idle sound, loved the upper RPM vocals. I drive my car alot on the highway at 65 to 80 mph and can tell you that at 1800-2000 RPM which is exactly cruise RPMs it drove me NUTS with the drone.

Decided it was not right for me, went from front to back with a Roto Fab CAI, Dynatech headers, Dynatech HF cats and Corsa cat back exhaust because I had read that the corsa system eliminates all cruising RPM drone.

MAN were they right. NO DRONE OF ANY KIND. With the other upgrades, my L99 is MUCH louder then it was with the Loudmouth Axle backs when I get on it but sounds like stock when at cruise RPMs. MUCH better in my opinion.

If you will be driving in town alot and very little on the highway, you will be happy with the SLP but if your car is a driver, you will get tired of it. Plus, the AFM drove me nuts with the Axle back exhaust. THat system has sense been turned off and I could not be happier, even get better milage now!!!

Don't get me wrong...outside of the car I LOVE this exhaust. I think it is great sounding. When I was listening to it on the dyno, I was grinning from ear to ear....

The exhaust is growing on me. I think it sounds fabulous, especially with the windows down

I don't think the sound clip from outside the car is going to help understand the drone I was getting inside the car....I will try and get those sounds recorded.

Again, outside the car it sounds good...it is loud...but real good

Also, this is the LOUDMOUTH axle back which means it has no mufflers, basically a muffler delete exhaust.

Installed real quick and easy.

Here are a couple screen shots from the dyno yesterday before and after the Vararam installation

Notice how hot it was, and still able to get some good performance increase.

The fist 390+ number was right after I installed the Vararam, no tuning.

The final number was after a few tunes to get it all running right.

I did all this at Back Street Performance, great people and great job.

I will be headed out there in a few days once my Pedders Springs come in and have them install them...I might help them, but they do it all....plus alignment

Notice the drop in HP about 3,000 RPM's prior to the Vararam installation. The Vararam took out the dip and had a constant increase all the way up!
