2011 Won't Go Into Drive - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I tried to do a search in the forums for this problem but nothing came up. If this has already been posted I'm sorry.

I have a 2011 Camaro V6 automatic that I just purchased last weekend and only have 313 miles on it. This morning I went to drive my Camaro out of my garage, put it in drive and the transmission wouldn't go out of park. While the gear was in drive I hit the gas and the engine reved as if it was still in park. After about 2 minutes of turning the car on and off, switching from park to drive, I finally put it in reverse and was able to back up and then put it in drive and go it to move. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm taking it back to the dealer this evening and was wondering if I should hound them about giving me another one instead of trying to fix this one. I got a feeling that if they can't duplicate the problem they aren't going to be able to fix it.

Another issue I have which I'm not sure if it's just the way the car is made or if it's actually another problem is that it seems to be a delay when I hit the gas and then the engine finally catches up and jerks the car. Has anyone had that problem too?

Get to the dealer ASAP! Yikes. Sounds like a transmission issue.

Yep I was thinking the same thing. My husband called the dealer and they told him that I should have hit the Onstar emergency button so that they can do a diagnostic of the problem, give me a specific code, and then I give that code to the dealer. I got a feeling they are going to give me a problem about this issue.
