Possible, Impossible, or just stupid?

This is just an idea, but wonder if a sponsor on here would be willing to somehow raffle off a supercharger. They could set up a paypal account and charge X amount for a ticket and your post would be your ticket. I know I would be willing to pay 15 or 20$ for a ticket to get a supercharger. Also let the raffle go on till enough people purchase one to pay for the Supercharger and if there is more than enough maybe they can use the extra to pay for installation at your local shop.

Please feel free to add to this to see if it's a good idea or not!!!!!

I love the idea. I'd be willing to throwdown 15-20 bucks for a chance at a supercharger. Hell, I spend that on lottery tickets and those odds are ridiculous.

I'ld be up for that. They can donate proceeds to a worthy cause as well. Just keep it limited to the Camaro5 family so odds would be better

It's a great idea to me. I'd buy a couple tickets. It would be good PR for the sponsor that decides to jump on this opportunity as well.

I would do it. As stated above I buy lottery tickets why not for a super charger.

I am not a sponser or own a business, but do you realize how many raffles would have to be purchased to cover a 6000.00 super charger at 20 bucks each? Raffles are generally done to make money, not give away stuff.

I'm down. Like Gramps said, it doesn't have to be a SC, I'd be interested in other things too.

Some hypothetical calculations for discussion:

Maggie SC = $6500 retail, so I'll guess $6000 wholesale. Add the cost of the law firm (or accounting firm) to conduct the drawing because you don't want the sponsor's mother to win, right? No one would participate unless it was on the up and up. That would almost be like a moderator on this forum winning a free giveaway (joking!)

I would be up for $10 a ticket with odds no worse than 1/1000. So, $10,000 should cover the cost of the maggie (or e-force) plus the lawyers, and profit if any left over.

With these hypothetical numbers, realize that the true value of the ticket is only $6.50 (1/1000 chance X $6500 value), so you are actually throwing away $3.50.

Can 1000 tickets be sold on this forum? I say absolutely. All SS Camaros can use a supercharger so the potential is high.

Don't forget to calculate man hours involved of the sponsor's employees to conduct this, insurance & liability involved, varying state rules for contests, possible exclusions... no employees of sponsors, manufacturers, involved parties nor their immediate family are eligible...

It's definitely doable, just not as beneficial to an established sponsor... It would make for a great PR move for an upstart, but the stay power is usually limited to just short of a year... then, do you make it an annual thing

If the contest was just limited to this forums then a ticket will have to be few hundred dollars.

We have about 1,000 people who regularly visit this site on a daily basis. Of those about 3/4's actually own a Camaro. Of those figure a 50/50 split between V6's and SS. Of those about half would be willing to void their warranty for a supercharger. Of those figure 25% have already done it. Using these numbers that leave 140 people and that's if they all are willing to throw away a few hundred dollars at a chance to win one. If you include lurking guests you might get it up to 200 but that's it imo.

That is why you offer the cash instead, for those who don't want or need a Maggie. But I get the point that there may not be a big enough audience for the contest.
