Opinions on BFG g-Force T/A KDW tires?
I'm looking for honest opinions on the BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW tires from people that have actually used them.
Anyone have these on their Camaro? If not, anyone used them in the past on a different car? If you have used them, did you have the new tread pattern or the traditional tread pattern shown in the attachment? Keeping the stock 20's, I'm thinking about getting these sizes for the KDWs... Front: 245/40ZR20 (27.7" tall) Rear: 295/40ZR20 (29.5" tall) I've always liked the little/big tire combo but wonder if anyone knows for certain if it will mess up the computer to run this setup with a 1.8" difference. I don't really care that the speedo/odometer will be off.

I have never owned them, but considered them several times.
I have heard they are quite noisy. Checkout the owner reviews @ Tirerack. I personally wouldn't have the height diff more then 1/2" |

I have owned/used them on both a Honda and a WRX STi... the new tread pattern.
personally I loved them, very grippy but they do make more noise than other performance tires I have run. Not so bad that I wouldnt run them again though... They were horrid in the wet, which is probably not entirely the fault of the tire. If I drove normally in the wet instead of like an a-hole, they probably would have been fine. When its time to replace the tires on the Camaro, these will be on the list of tires to consider for me.

Thanks for the input. I've read the reviews on TireRack and saw reviews complaining about the noise. Given that my car is much louder than stock with my cat-back exhaust and I tend to drive with the radio on anyhow, I'm not sure how much the tire noise will bother me.
As for the height difference, unfortunately, BFG doesn't make a semi-similar front tire size that would be closer to the 295/40's. I could go 265/50/20 on the front but that's .9" taller than the 295/40 and kind of defeats the look of little fronts/big rears.

I had them (new tread design) on my 03 Mach1. Like you, I thought that the tire noise would not bother me, but they were noticeable over the exhaust. Traction was OK, but not the best. I would not recommend them for a car that you drive a lot. They look great on show cars, but not so good for a car in the real world.

I have done a cupple sets on Mustangs and other performace cars. Very sticky (good dry traction) High speed rating and decent cornering. They look great and I have had no complaints. Keep in mind that they were for customers doing drag/ road races. You may want to look into Nittos as a better fitment option. NT1 are comparable.

While I'm sure the NT01's are sticky as hell when it's dry, how well would they do in the rain? Aren't they more like drag radials/autocross rather than an every day use tire?
Never mind, just look them up. They only come in sizes up to 18". I need 20's.

I have used the above tires on several of my passed vehicles and I loved them. A little noisy but so were the cars The best tire (for a decent price) that will work great on the street, and also work quite well on the track is the new Nitto NT-05. It has a treadware of 200 which is good for traction, but also quite good for longevity. We run them on our "Cammedmaro" in 20's and I won't be changing any time soon. If you are looking for more of a street tire then the Nitto Invo's are also a good option, amazing in the rain, look great just not quite as good on the track. It's been said many times before, but if money is not an option then Michelin PS2's are probably the best tire made, period. But at $400+ per tire the are not cheap. /Erik |

Thanks for the input Erik. The Nitto Invo's are on my list to consider. I'm mostly looking for a good performance street tire rather than something that is aimed at track use. The Michelin PS2's would be great and I might consider those if they weren't quite so pricey.

The height difference front to rear will trip the stabilitrack and shut down the ABS. I know, I have it trip every day.

Crap. What happened to the good old days where a computer didn't dictate what size tires I could run...Thanks for the info.
BFG just seems to be missing the sizes in the 28" diameter range. Plenty of 26/27" and 29"+ but they seem to be missing any 20's in the 28" diameter range for this tire. Guess I'll start looking at other options...

I ran the older style tread on my TransAm... they were very good tires with outstanding dry grip, and pretty good in the rain as well. I never noticed any noise either.
