2011 SS Manual - CAI and CORSA CatBack - TUNE =?

I know, I know. This has probably been answered thousands of times...

I notice the lack of throtle repsonse, power, etc... Don't get me wrong, it's pretty nice. But, I went to the dealership today and they actually suggested getting a tune. MC RACING.....down the road. What can I expect from the tune? Power, Feel, MPG etc.....is it really worth it...??

2011 SS IOM Manual - 3k miles, CAI and Corsa Catback...THANKS....

I want to get excited!!

I'm not familiar with tuning of cars, i'm learning as my '11 2SS/RS M6 is my 1st real performance car(granted I do have a R/T which doesn't count ). But I was told after any major performance add-ons with newer cars you definately want to get the car tuned especially after a CAI, Headers, Exhaust, etc. Try and get a Bone Stock dyno and then dyno'd again after the installs/tune of whatever performance parts you try to go with so you no how much increase of HP/TQ you added. I'd say its worth it though...

Well, First thing I will tell you is install all your aftermarket parts before you get it tuned! I would recommend you do long tubes with high flow cats. "Kook's are great!" You already have a great exhaust so that will bolt up to your headers. I would also recommend a good air induction kit. Once all these things are done wit a "GOOD" tuner you should see some very rewarding HP and TQ numbers. I did this same set up on my 2000 Corvette back in the day and saw 50 HP gains over stock! The tune makes the car resond better to the mods in which you performed. It just doesn't make sence to me to do and exhaust then have the car tuned, do it all at once then you can feel the real difference. Corsa claims 5 to 10 rear wheel HP which is BS, but if you do that with headers and high flow cats those numbers to gether with the tune will give you your most bang for your buck! I have been down this road many times, trust me on this one! Good luck and I hope this helped?

THanks for the reply. But, I do have a CAI installed. Is that enough to see big gains? Will it sound different? Thanks again.

If you want to better your throttle response, I might suggest a VMAX CNC Throttle body. This should help and most charge only $150 if you swap with your existing LS3 TB. We saw a good 8 HP gain and the throttle response is improved over stock.

Unless something has changed extremely recently, whoever they have to call from outside to tune GM doesn't really know what to do.
