GM Performance Exhaust Question

I am getting a 2010 2SS this week and it qualifies for the $1500 in gm accessories incentive. So I am thinking the exhaust would be a good way to use this. So do you guys have any experiance or input on the gm performance exhaust upgrade? There is one labled as off road only and one for on road. I dont mind loud as long as it doesnt drone inside the car.

I hope the dealer isn't charging you $1500 for a exhaust

I can't really speak for you since I dont own the GM perf exhaust, and I dont own an SS. But imo, the 1500 can be used for other things... you can probably get better exhaust systems for lower prices. Do you have other things you want to install for 1500? if you do, I would get something else, like GFX, stripes and other stuff =p I know if I had 1500, i'd prolly get the GFX kit.

I have an SS and the GM performance parts off road exhaust. I didn't pay for it so I'm not complaining but.... It does drone quite a bit at cruising speeds. It sounds great under acceleration, but between 1700 and 2000 RPM, with no load, it drones quite a bit... I knew it was a temporary situation when I got the system as I knew it would be replaced when I do the major mods in a few months or so....

The exhaust would not eat up the whole $1500. The exhaust is $1000. It is incentive money that can only be used to purchase GM accessories. The price is the same with or without the accessories.
I am not really a fan of the GFX. The car already has the stripe package/color I want. It also has the interior accent package. So I guess I could get the sub woofer, splash gaurds, fuel door, and/or painted engine cover. I dont want the gm floor mats. I plan on ordering Lloyds mats. I wonder if the Hurst Shifter is still an aption. It is not showing up on the web site they sent me to, but I think that is a GM dealer installed accessory.

More feedback on sound quality of the gm exhaust?

The MSRP was substantially less than 1000. It it was me, I would get the subwoofer system, and have the option of selling it if you dont want them.... You'll never be able to get rid of the exhaust...

In all honesty, I love the tips, but get real tired of the drone....

As mentioned above, the tips are great looking and are double walled for some dimension and depth, but the drone of the mufflers leaves a bit to be desired...

Is yours the off road system too? If it is I wonder if the on road system would drone as bad. The tips look great.

I really had not thought of getting something and selling it. This might be the best option. I want the windows tinted (they already agreed to do this in deal), I would like to have a CAI. Other than that was planning on leaving stock for now.

Mine is the offroad system. I talked to someone that had the on-road system and he said he couldn't tell much difference from the factory, other that the garbage cans were not hanging from the back....

GFX!!!!

Best appearance mod you can do sir. Especially if they are going to pay a big chunk of that for you.

I can tell you that their cost on the kit isn't much more than what you qualify for.

Another vote for ground effects or subwoofer over the exhaust.
