extremely hard decision... Camaro or Corvette. help me decide
alright, so I have been saving for an 02 Z28 vert for a while now, but an amazing thing just happened... I realized that my favorite body style corvettes are around the same price as what I've been saving for.... soo tell me what you thinhk is a better car. this is not only looks wise, but also practicality and reliability.
here're my choices between an 81 and an 82 corvette blue (4 speed manual hopefully) ($9,000-13,595) ![]() the camaro I've wanted, 02 Z28 convertible ($13,950)

Buy the 02. 81-82 may very well be the worse corvettes ever made.
edit: plus the Z/28 will dust those vettes |

90% of the time I'd say Corvette hands down and I do love the StingRay body style but with maybe 175 hp on tap I'd have to pass and op for the Z/28. Tons of potencial in that ls1. If you plan on DD a vert out in the rain you need to invest into keeping the top clean and protected. Spend a little time and money on it now to save you bigger bucks down the line.

The corvette I found has 110K miles on the body, but less than 5K on the engine. It's a GMPP 350 crate. I think I'll end up going with the camaro, all the people I talked to today thought it was a good looking corvette... but that's not all I care about.

Lol, at 16 the Cam has a purpose for the back seat, the Corvette does not.

well i am not a fan of the 4th gens but also i agree that the vett lacks power. yes the vett looks good but i would put the money into the z/28.
and congrats for being 16 and saving that kind of money to buy your first car. i bought my first car when i was 18. my first two were bought for me. so again congrats and good luck. let us know when you get it |

get what you want, but for practicality & reliability, the camaro will probably be the better bet. those year vettes had the suck L98. the LT1's what replaced that engine &'s what you'll at least get in a 4th gen f-body. the LS1 is obviously a bit better than that.
now that particular vette with the GMPP crate engine - you'll wanna make sure the install was done properly & ain't a hack job or you'll probably just run into a bunch of headaches later. the engine itself probably wouldn't be all that bad ![]() as far as maintenance goes, the vette'll be more upkeep because it's older & rarer - meaning parts are typically harder to find & more expensive. the 93-02 camaros are a dime a dozen now, so you can get parts anywhere. you'll also get better gas mileage out of the f-body, which i would imagine you'd still care about being so young & not being able to work all the time

If it's going to be driven everyday, the Camaro.
I love that body style Vette but I would only buy one to drive on weekends and show off. |

i like both , but in this market , that price for a 82 unoriginal corvette is too high...i sold my 93 triple black fully loaded convertible with 76k miles last year to buy my camaro for 9500. used vettes are really a great investment deal, bought mine in 96 for 20k, and only thing i did was maint and tires, drove for 14yrs and lost 10k over 14 yrs{ 714.00 a year loss to drive a 3 year old corvette}...person who bght mine for 9500 will keep 10 years and if she keeps clean , probably will get back what she paid for it..come to florida , no salt on roads, corvettes everywhere..pick up a later model for under 10
