Auto trans fault
Guys, after a bit of advice-never having owned an auto before, I only know the very basics of how auto boxes work!
Have a 1997 Plymouth Voyager that wont change up. Reverse is fine and selecting D, it pulls away but stays in that gear. I have tried selecting manually, to no joy and the oil level is spot on. A fitter at worked plugged in a diagnostic reader and it came up with speed sensor failure. Took it to a garage and am now being told it's more than that-and I need a new/recon transmission!! I'm not convinced!! Any good advice greatfully recieved.

I would try to change the sensor first. Also look at the filter/screen to see if there is any metal or clutch material in it. If there is nothing, it's probably just a sensor.
