Well, I got my first f***ing rock chip over the weekend.

Looking for some touch up and got the code out off the placard in the trunk; 8624.

So I go to get some touch up and the code matches Olympic White, BUT... Olympic White DOES NOT match my Summit White baby.

Arctic White matches my baby. The Olympic White looks yellow next to my paint.

What's a guy to do? I decided I would wait and talk to my buddy who runs the body shop at the dealership.

Anyone else have this problem?

Use some of that face makeup on it

Maybe some white out

Now in all seriousness, where did you get the paint from? I may be able to explain. I got my touch up paint from www.paintscratch.com for my RJT, and it is perfect! I was so worried since it was a tricoat.

Anyhow, they list both Olympic white, and Summit white having similar paint codes.

Olympic White (matt) WA8624
White Clearcoat 50/WA8624

It looks like the Olympic white has a matte finish rather than having a clear coat. So while it might be the same color, it doesn't have the same reflective properties.

Olympic white I believe is used for the white interior trim panels.

Be sure you get the COMPLETE paint code, not just the last 4 digits. With GM vehicles there will sometimes be letters or numbers in front and simply changing just one of those will get you a different color as you just witnessed.

To get the correct white you need to go to a dealer with your vin# and get your correct paint code.. Last time I was there it showed something like 8 different paint mixing codes for the SW camaro. I think they should just stop painting the color myself it was only meant to be an intrim color anyway..

Just buy the 50 clear and go to town ! And bring a pc and polish that will seal the deal

had a body shop in town do my eng. cover,took the code in the trunk and used that. i had my car at home when they did it,and needless to say it wasn't even close so they are doing it again. i hope this isn't a problem every time i want a touch up done. good luck.
